It is very hard where you are right now to understand what many of us are saying about staying away from subs or methadone. I had the same 8-10 a day habit on hydros and thought there was no other option than methadone. But here I am 2 years later and catching straight hell from detoxing off a fairly low dose (20 mg was my highest).
The only thing I can say is that you should do a lot of reading and research and go into knowing that it can only be a short term fix. A lot of people get induced at way too high of a dose and wind up worse off when the times come to get off the subs. Either way, you will have to pay the piper, now or later. And later is always greater, meaning worse.
Good luck and hang in there, the physicals are almost over, but it is hard for me to tell you that when I did not do it myself, although I was that I had.
Hello. From what I'm reading, some of these people haven't had the best luck with suboxone. I was put on 4 mg 1 week ago. I had a 5 year run with norcos. Taking up to 40 per day. I have a full time job and couldn't take the time off to withdraw from such heavy use. Mentally and emotionally I was fed up and wanted to be clean and free of such a nasty habbit. Sub really helped a lot. I would say to just do it cold turkey since you're already half way there, but if those cravings get worse, get on the sub before returning to what you were using. My advice, even though this is new for me as well is that it does not make you a weak person to ask for help. If you go on sub, don't stay on it for long, or you'll be looking at another long withdrawl process in the future. Stay on it to help you through the first part, but get into some type of aftercare or meetings......the physical withdraw is the easy part.. good luck.
Sorry about all the misspelled words :)
I am also on sub and would not sugest it at all. i think back to when I started it all the time. I thought there was no other way fir me. But I did not know alot about suboxone at the time. I did not know how hard it can be to get off of. If I were you I would just push through with all your strength and might. In the end it will be up t you and only you. I wish you all the luck in the world!
I am on Sub and I would not suggest it at all. Like the above said, you are almost over the hump, so please hang in there! Get some type of aftercare though and that will also help teach you to deal with cravings. I believe there is a section in the Health Pages on here that deal with cravings and you may find some of the other articles in there helpful as well.
Hi,
You are now half way through the physical withdrawal. A few more days and it will be over.
Suboxone is not a miracle pill and comes with it's own set of problems if not used correctly. It is a program and is to be followed under a prescribing doctor's care.
If you decide to go the Suboxone route there will come a day that you have to withdrawal from that. Do your research before you make that decision. It should not be taken lightly.
Best of luck.
I would try it first this way. Sub can be very hard to get off of. Harder than the percocet for sure. You are better off just holding out since you are this far along anyway!
Can you get to the store and pick up some stuff? There are OTC things that will help you with some of the symptoms!
well i feel very agitated, anxiety, havent slept since friday really..might have gotten 6 hrs of sleep since fri...muscle aches sweats and chills..i dont want to go back and take perks again i wanted to try this cold turkey..but i can also feel the craving coming back so im worried i will start again..and i dont want methadone..but someone told me he was taking sub.and it was way better.but i never heard of it so thats why im not sure if thats a good idea or not
Hi! You are almost over the hump! Don't give up. You will be feeling better in a couple of days, ok? What symptoms are you having? Maybe we can help you find some other way to deal besides sub???
im coming of perks..i was taking about on avg 10 a day
What are you coming off of, and how much? And welcome :)
