Good info to know about Lyrica for pain.....

Not really a question.  Just wanted to share something really important for us addicts with pain that may use Lyrica.  On the WebMD.com site where you can check out effects of any drug, precautions, interactions, etc. the med guide says this:  "May cause abnormal drug seeking behavior (addiction).  This risk may be increased if you have abused alcohol and/or drugs in the past. Take EXACTLY as prescribed to lessen the risk of addiction."
A good precaution for me.....maybe it will help someone else, too.

I relate to the piled.......oh piles.  B4 opiates.......I was a born and bred organizer.....by nature for sure!  I have eliminated a few piles, but now find myself moving the damn things from one room to another Ughh!!
When I do "tackle" something, lately it has been for another loved one.
Then no energy left for "my stuff" and "messes".  Cleaning up the wreckage of our past helps us so much tho.......I have a LONG way to go!

Well I feel better now.  If I found one now I would be okay.  It just proves that relapse can happen in an instance if you are in a bad state.
I think I have learned (finally) to wait it out.  The bad feelings pass.
I feel so much better than I did earlier.
I even went and made a concoction which is cooking in my oven and i have done 2 loads of laundry.
Also throwing things out.  I became quite the hoarder when I was using.  Why would I keep a broken sandal for 5 years?  Feels good to pitch things.
Oh and I have every thing that was mailed to me for 5 years.  Lots of it is unopened.  I have piles, and piles of paper.
It just is so not me.  I have a filing cabinet, I used to use for bills etc.
God not anymore.
Lots and lots to do when those cravings hit.

The "what if I find a pill, or in my case probably 3" cause I always stashed more than one if I could!!  In my bathrobe pocket, or under my matress, or on the floor, or behind a picture frame!!!!

Fortunately, if it happened today, my response would be different that early on, or last week for that matter hahahaha!

It was terrible today I was doing laundry and checking pockets and I thought, what if I found a pill.  I didn't but was almost hoping I did.  I still don't know what I would have done with it.  I would hope that I would have thrown it out but it's a good thing I didn't have to make that decision.
Way too early for that to happen.
I just want to feel good.

One of my sisters gave me $1.00 for every yr old I am  THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY HAHAHAHA!!  I haven't had any money given to me for SO long that I just went bonkers with excitement.  Then I looked at my hubby and said, "do you realize I could have only bought a few Lortabs off the street for the wonderful amount of $ she gave me?"  Geesshhhh....ready for my brain to quit "retrieving" dope information!  This too shall pass....

How ridikalous ......two words can ALWAYS change the meaning of a sentence.  Like "very rarely".  "Got mud on my face......" and you know the rest of that song!

Plus, I want you to know that your fake gun works good......all the way from Canada to Kansas.  Glad you manufacture them daily and I used yours for today LOL!  My heart is better now.

And I certainly have had it CONFIRMED that my brain STILL DOES NOT WORK RIGHT....probably never will since I just turned another yr older!
Damage, defects, and damn time!!  Always MORE TIME!!

I just want to add to this post that clean in ks and I have been PMing and I know that in no way did she intend to upset me.
I over reacted as I was feeling extremely biotchy today.  I even yelled at my poor kitties.

I have one thing to say. (You have said it yourself) different drugs work different on all of us. What works for you may not work for me.
I think you are doing terrific. I think you are a very strong person to have been through all that you have accomplished.

I have had no desire to rob a pharmacy since being on Lyrica, actually my desire to rob a pharmacy has lessened since being off the opiates and on Lyrica.

No, I'm not upset.  Just felt strongly about it.
I went for a nice long walk and it's freaking freezing here.  Then did dishes, made something to eat and now I am pigging out on chocolate.

I just read the info on WebMD about Lyrica...the statement above was misquoted. The info said: ..."VERY RARELY may cause abnormal drug seeking behaviour"....that changes the perception a little, huh?   And anyway,,who wrote this??  What the hell is ABNORMAL drug seeking behaviour?  LOL. Is there a normal type??   It doesn't make sense anyway and it was stupid to say that!  IMO.

All pain medications have that warning even some OTC meds. Its a generalized statement. Doesn't mean that is going to happen. I think all addicts are very cautious of the meds we take-heck we know more about meds than pharmacists do! Don't get upset Pat. Ive seen this statement before. The FDA has to cover their butts from all aspects. ((hugs))~Bkitty

I agree, Pat! I'm sure there are horror stories about every drug out there known to man! Every drug affects every person differently! Look at the very few people who can quit opiates without any withdrawal symptoms! Extremely rare, I know, but it does happen! I also believe that knowledge is power! You must make your own decisions based on your own personal situation! If this drug, Lyrica, is helping you get through this, and your doctor is knowledgeable and behind you then take it! We all have to do what is the best for us! Just my opinion! Still in your corner, always!

I am also on blood pressure meds and an anti depressant.  I am sure if I reserached those there would be horror stories.
Sometimes the cure is worse than the side effects.

I am sure we could research every drug known and scare everyone about taking them.  I just don't think it's necessary.

Thanks for pointing out the info. I didn't realize what lyrica is. I may have stumbled across it without thinking. I will definitely follow the directions if it ever comes up. I can see many online that unwittingly used it for years, like I used my pills. If I had followed the directions on my pills, it wouldn't have ever been as bad as it was. Keeping that guard up.

My motive was NOT to instill fear.  My motive was love.

My understanding of the substance abuse forum was that recovering addicts share their experience, strength and hope to HELP others.

The link on the "old" post may be dated some but it doesn't make what they shared invalid or untrue. Those recovering addicts were also motivated by love and trying to help others.  Many opiate addicts on THAT thread were sharing SO others would not have to suffer what THEY did.

Pat, I'm truly sorry if what I read and shared affected you negatively.

For me......just ME......I feel blessed when I am given a stepping stone, that may have the future potential of a stumbling block in my life.
