I just recently got married to the love of my life and quickly after we got married my husband has become severly addicted to opiates. It started with vicodine, then norcos, then percocet, now morphine (highest perscription). He goes to work and sleeps. We have no marriage. Im so young and feel like I am alone. There has to be someone out there going thru the same thing? I feel so embarrased posting this, but what do you do as a new wife when you cant go on with a new husband who has an addiction that does not let him live his life? Currently he is on 6 pills and they are all perscribed by a doctor!!!! Who perscribes someone 6 perscriptions for back pain. What do I do as a newlywed who has a husband severly addicted to morphine, percocet, flexeril, neurontin, pamelor, and norcos? HELP.

Unfortunatly, you can't help him if he doesn't want to stop.  This WILL destroy your marriage and most likely he's never straight enough to seriously talk about it. Try to talk to him, talk to his doctor, or better yet report his doctor to the AMA. That kind of medicating is over the top. He can take toradol (non narcotic) and therapy for back pain. I know you love him, you can't force him to stop, but you have to make him aware it's a problem for you and see if he'll get help. Take care of yourself and good luck.
