HUSBAND: Day 15

Okay everyone...  We are on Day 15 of detox from the Tramadol.  My hubby's days are getting better; he has twitching and the shakes still, but is able to get through the day pretty well.... my question is the nights.  By the time it hits 7pm; his whole body starts to ache really bad and he gets leg pain in his left leg and really bad twitching all over.  Is this fairly normal at this point in the detox??  Is there anything go give him that might help??  I give him Tylenol and stuff to help him sleep; although it doesnt seem to work since his body wont relax.  IHe is so tired that we are both afraid to put him in the bathtub... I'm at a loss and it is getting really frustrating for him.  I could use any thoughts on this!
THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

he should almost be pulling out of the rls. I also c/t from tramadol and it took me three weeks to finally get some decent sleep. The rls seemed to last the longest for me and no sleep. congrats on his success and really any day now it should get better. tell him great job.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.  We have tried just about all of them for sleep.  Alteril, Valerian, Melatonin and regular sleeping pills... none of them seem to work for him, although, he really does have a very high tolerance for any drug.  We have been trying the Hylands Restful Legs tablets without success either... not sure how much is too much of the homeopathic, but he took 10 of those last night and nothing resulted from them.  We did use a heating cream, but did not wrap the calf, maybe I'll try that tonight if he has the same problem; definitely going out for bananas today.
AGAIN, thank you all; this board has been a tremendous help to me and my husband!

Yeah all the info that kim gave you is right on, the only other thing I might suggest to help him sleep would 3-5mgs of melatonin that you can get at any grocery store. Theres also l-tryptophan but for me melatonin always helped alot. You got some good ideas in the above mentioned post so try some of those if not all of them and see if it helps. Best wishes to you, take care.

Instead of the tylenol.. You might try Valerian root for anxiety it also helps to relax you and melatonin 5mg. for sleep..these are natural and provided relief for me along with the hylands.. You can get them all at the same store.. wishing you and hubby well... lesa

The RLS is common no matter what we are w/ding from.I think the very best thing for it is exercise.I know you said you are both afraid to put him in the bath tub,but hot baths really do give you so much relief.Eating bananas for the potassium. The RLS was the worst part for me.What worked for me was to rub my legs with a mentholated muscle rub and then wrap them tight, but not too tight, with ace bandages and then use heating pads.Doing this brought me enough relief that I could actually get some sleep. They also sell something at Walmart called Hylands Restful Legs.I hope this helps.......Kim
