Do methadone tapering. There is a program designed for opiate addicts. You go into a treatment facility, and you`re cut off cold turkey. They formulate a methadone dose to match the opiate dose you`re on. It does everything the opiates do, but without the high. Every day they slowly decrease the dose of methadone, until you walk out clean. I know methadone is scary, but this is safe. I went into the methadone treatment on 300mg of oxycontin every day. After doing the methadone, I walked out completely clean from oxycontin and methadone after only 8 days. The methadone works as a synthetic opiate, calming the receptors in the brain to prevent the first stage of acute withdrawal. Once you go into full withdrawal, the symptoms vary depending on the person, and the dose of methadone. Some people still have a rough time with pain, vomiting, insomnia, etc, whereas others have very mild, and sometimes even no symptoms at all. It is a very comfortable withdrawal, and you`re not on it long enough, of enough of a dose, to become dependent on methadone. I strongly suggest looking into something like this. It saved my life when i was ready to give up, it will save yours too. Good luck in your recovery.
thanks for all the advice!!! Really a big help!!!
It sounds like you have a good attitude towards detoxing this time. You gotta do it like there's no other option. I cant say for sure, but I would think you will be alright droppin the subs. Just stick it out no matter what, and get some aftercare started to help deal with the cravings. We're all here for you. Good luck!
HI well it sounds like you been around the block a few to many times...you need to stop the madness the sub with help with your withdrawals temporarily but its not a get out of jail free card you will have to face some withdrawals sooner or later...sub was never ment to be used like this...it was designed for the chronic abuser in mind that has failed to detox on multiple attempts ..it puts your addiction on hold so you have time to work on building up a foundation with aftercare to be able to lead a clean and sober lifestyle once you go off of it..it was never ment for a quick fix to detoxing so do yourself a favor and quit taking it...your withdrawals shouldn't be to bad you already 5 days off you DOC you will have a few ruff days when the sub wheres off...its a lot stronger and has a long 1/2 life so you may not feel it for a few days....you need to purge all the narcotics out of your system so it can begin to heal...eating well as well as taking vitamins will also help...the main thing you need to do is seek out aftercare it will teach you the skills and give you the tools to start and keep a clean lifestyle
it is absolutely critical to long term sobriety you said yourself you want this cycle to end I truly believe it is the missing link and why you keep retuning back to the drugs...theres a lot mor to this then just detoxing it takes work to stay clean
keep posting here for support we all want you to succeed good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
hi, Eme, welcome to the forum !!!
your son doesn't need to see you sick every month any more as you said. Trust yourself that you can do it, of course it can be done!. Those pills destroy our body and most of all, our souls, we can be stronger than this, eme. Stay focused and motivated, you know what you can expect the first week, i would advice you to read as much posts as you can, knowledge is power here. Ask whatever your doubts are. we are here to help you as much as we can :)
good luck !!
Hey guys this is my first time on here. I feel so much like you Help I have no more detox's in me. I detox every month to give my PO a clean urine and now I've come to realize my 9 year old has realized why "mommy gets sick every month". Any advice may save my life guys....I can't do this anymore.
After numerous detoxes I had to ask myself, "what is going to change this time" because the way i was doing it was not working. Getting some type of support/aftercare is good. AA/NA meetings are great and they are free. Another option is a substance abuse counselor. Just my 2cents.
Since the sub was not given to you by your doctor and you have taken so little of it, I would encourage you to stop taking it and just stop the hydro. You are just prolonging the withdrawals. Just accept that you will have to go through withdrawals to get to the other side. Start eating right and take vitamins.
We have all been where you are and there is light at the end. It just takes time and prayer.
Good luck. You are worth it!
Drew
hi, welcome here :)
I would forget about taking more subs. The first 3/$ days are the worst and you've past them.
I would advice you maybe valerian root ( it helped me sleep and with anxiety ) some immodium ( in case of dhiarrea), lots of bananas ( pothasium , good for restless legs and muscles), some magnesium and vitamins suplements , a B's complex, keep hydrated, maybe some protein shakes and of course, do try exercising as much as you can ( even short walks are good... for your body and mind during this time ) and of course, be positive you can do it :)
most of all, try finding some counselling ( therapy, meetings whatever ) as aftercare. Once the wd's are gone, the mental part is the hardest, better find help than abusing pills.
good luck !
