How bad should I expect the withdrawals from suboxone to be?

I started taking Suboxone for fun close to 2 months ago, with no previous addiction to pills or anything. A coworker offered me some one day said it would help my production. I've been taking about 2mg to 8mg a day, never more then 6 days in a row (with 1 off day)...experienced no withdrwawls during those breaks, but a couple weeks ago I was out and my last dose was 2mg on a Saturday, I was fine up to Wednesday night when I started feeling some restlessness and fatigue..I was able to get more and get better so I've continued to take them for another 2 weeks. But now I need to be down with suboxone, I have a newborn and can't risk falling deeper into this hole, just wondering if anyone can tell me how bad and how long I should experience withdrawals for?

Hello Infiniteflight. Welcome to the forum. Your co.worker is no friend if you are getting the sub from her/him then they are no more then a drug dealer making money off you. I have see this play out more times, offer a high for free a few times next charge You have a costumer.. 8mgs is a lot of sub.. I would suggest you start to taper. We are not allowed to give taper plans but by reducing a lil every few days you can get off it. I would begin as soon as possible as you have only 2 and 1/2 months in. The longer you stay on it the harder it will be to get off it. If you taper it you may not feel as much wd as you are so new to it and have not had any other addictions. I would also suggest sitting in on a few NA our AA meetings and Listen to what the peps have to say It may open your eyes to how Dangerous and self-destructive the road you are heading down is. You can do this you can free yourself but it will take determination and commitment. You are worth this Do it for Yourself your Child. I wish you well. lesa

Hi, agree w/ all the above. I would just add something you probably won't like: only an addict would get into your situation. I strongly suggest you look into some type of aftercare. Addict tendencies do NOT go away on their own. This will come back again in some other form (booze, another drug) if you don't address it. Good luck to you and you baby;)

This was my DOC and what I w/d off of when I came to this site 3 1/2 years ago.
The reason you didn't feel w/d when you would skip a day or two here or there is b/c of Suboxone's extremely long half-life.  The drug works by making a build up in your system, so when you skip a day, it's not super bad b/c it's still in your system.  It was when I hit about day 3 that I was like WTF!!!!!
IMO....I would stop now....the longer you wait, the worse it will be.  2mg to 8mg is a pretty decent dose even though it seems low (the numbers are low, that's all) .  At this point I wouldn't recommend tapering either because tapering off this drug is a LONG, SLOW *** process.  Like dropping 1 mg every 2/3 weeks....it would take you months.  Just quit it now....bite the bullet and do it.  I would think b/c it's only been 2 months, it shouldn't be AS BAD, perhaps a week or two.  But help with your newborn might be necessary.  Suboxone is a tricky little buger.....it's billed as a miracle UNTIL it's time to come off of it.  Let us know what you decide to do as there are alot of things you can do to lessen the severity.
