It's a B/P med. You'll probably have to tell the doctor you'd like to have it for sx of withdrawal. I don't know if you want to do that...
Otherwise, there's nothing else except time. But it does pass fairly quickly. I mean ,by the time you make the call, leave a msg.,get a call back, get it called in,pick it up at the pharmacy, and take it...it could be two days!! And you would be better. :)
How are you now?

What could I say the clonidine for? What is it used for normally
Like Vicki said, they are not the same. Ativan is a benzo used for anxiety. Clonodine is a blood pressure medication but is also used during withdrawals for the elevated heart rate associated with withdrawals, the hot/cold flashes, and it helps with sleep. So it is a completely different medication. It is non narcotic and is not addictive so most doctors don't have a problem prescribing it. The clonodine makes a big difference while withdrawing. I would definitely get to your doctor and ask him about it. Since you are thinking about taking half a perc I would get in there soon. You know you don't want to go down that road again!
Hang in there.

They're similar in action but not the same. The Ativan will help with anxiety and sleep issues. It doesn't do anything for the sweating. Do you get chills also? All this passes pretty quickly. I know it seems like forever but just hang tough. Don't take any Percocet. It will just get you back on the rollercoaster... The sweating is the body's way to rid toxins. Don't add to that. The Perc will make it worse,in my experience. Just relax with that Ativan...use them for a few days if you have to then stop. Clonodine works if you can get it.

Clonadine like Ativan? I just took .75mg of Ativan. I was being mind ( and body) ****** too hard by these wd,s this time. Almost to the point of taking a half perc just to try to wean or somethig. Man it's
bad this time around.
I agree with bmdad - can you get some clonodine from your doctor? It helped me a lot going through withdrawals with sweats/colds/sleep.
When I would take hot baths, the hot./cold would stop for awhile, maybe try some more of that? I love baths, so I didn't have a problem taking lots of them...they will go away soon I would think. Hang in there!!! good luck!!
I am on Day 9 off of Lortab. I had the sweats/shakes bad, especially at night. I treated it like the flu and took Motrin. It seemed to help. Last night was the first night I didnt wake up wet so it will end soon. My body temperature was going from a low of 96.5 up to 100 so I found if I took the Motrin it did help me. Also drank a lot of sugary drinks like Juice and soda. Probably not the best thing but for some reason it made me feel better. Good luck and you can do it.
I don't think there is much you can do about the sweating. Just keep in mind that it won't last all that long. A few days and then it'll be gone. It's definitely not a serious enough problem to bother taking Ativan or Klonipin for and I don't think otc stuff like tylenol or advil would do anything for sweating.
Gotta tough it out I think.
Could you go to your doctor and have him prescribe clonodine? It is a blood pressure bed that is often prescribed for withdrawals. It also helps with the hot/cold flashes, the sweating, and the sleep issue. I've used it in the past and it does help.
Best of luck! Keep up the great fight!
