How long before I feel normal

I have only taken oxycoton for about 2 months at about 40 mg a day.  As I was checking out the drug I found this site and decided to quit  Tomorrow will be a week since I quit and I had no idea I was addicted.  This has been tough and I still have the shakes and the biggest problem is sleeping.  Any ideas?  I cannot believe how dangerous this drug is and it is difficult to believe it is legal.  I will be praying for the rest of you.  If it is this difficult for me I cannot imagine how it must be for those of you who have been taking mega doses for a long time.  How much longer before my muscles feel normal again and I can sleep?  I have been taking about 40 mg of ambien to sleep but it may be worse than no sleep.  It would be nice to have have a good attitude again also.  God bless all of you.

Thanks so much for your imput.  I was able to get to sleep last night with only 2 ambien.  This was before I read your post.  Anyway, I have had trouble with sleep for years and took temezapam for a very long time.  I switched to ambien about a year ago.  Usually I take about 1/2 pill a night and not two.  I am feeling much better but still have this electric feeling all over my body most of the time but especially at night.  I was still wide awake the other night at 2:00 a.m. when I took the 4 pills.  I hope I can get to sleep with just one pill tonight. then get back to my normal dose.  The teas just don't work for me.  I think I can get back to my normal sleep when this electric feeling goes away.
I am wondering now about my energy level.  Yesterday I got out of the house and went shopping for a couple of hours and then I could hardly do anything.  This is bad stuff.  It has been 8 days now and I think all of this crazy stuff should be going away soon.

When I started this detox I put in my mind that I was just sick and needed to go through what ever I have to just to get well.  There were certainly times I craved a pill but I put this out of my mind as fast as I could and began wondering how long it would be before I was well.  This is too much to go through twice.  Thanks to everyone for your encouragement and support.

Yes, honey you are creating another problem!  Ambien messes with your sleep so bad.  In my opinion, it's not worth it to take it now.  You need for your sleep to come back naturally not from a pill that will just get you into a harder situation in the end.

PLUS...you are taking too much of it if you're taking 30 to 40 mg a night.  Think about what I'm saying, ok?

Thanks so much for the encouragement and advice.  One thing I forgot to mention is that I took about 10 Tylonal 3's for over a year before I started the Oxycodone.  I did not mention it because I quit these for a few days before I started the Oxycodone then went back to them when I had a lot of pain (I have a very bad hip that needs to be replaced).  The withdrawls were very minor.

I am still wondering about the ambien.  Will it contribute to prolonged withdrawls?  Since I am taking about 3 per night to sleep since I gave up Oxycodone, am I creating another problem?  I have done this for week (before I only took 1/2 pill)  and if I do it for another week will I have my sleep permenately screwed up?

This is a powerful med.  It has some effects like heroin.  But when it wares off you need more to kill the pain.  I suggest you keep posting and maybe a NA meeting.  Drink plenty of water and apple juice this will flush your system faster exercise will help lower the stress and help you sleep better. If you think you going to use see your Doc and tell him he may give you something as a lower dose to keep you from bugging out your addiction will last a little while.         you can do it.
