How long should I wait to start subutex?

I have been stable on 5mg of methadone for 2 years and plan on using subutex to wean off. My question is I last dosed at 5am yesterday, how many hours should I wait before having the first subutex? Do I still need to wait at least 48 hours and do you think 1 or 2 mg subutex would be sufficientas a starting point? At the moment it has been 40 hours since my last little dose of methadone and I have resless legs, some anxiety and a slightly trippy feeling but not what I would call bad withdrawal at this point. Should I just take something to try and get some sleep and leave it a little longer? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I hope it all works out for you. If you look at the 2nd post down from the top of this page you will see The Community Guidelines. Stated in there you will see that we do not give out tapering information or dosing information. There are no doctors here and since we don't have any way of knowing your medical background, it is dangerous to provide that information on the internet.

Again, I wish you the best and hope that you can get and stay clean. Stick around and members will give you moral support through this and also suggest some natural supplements that you may want to consider to help ease the process.

Well, I ended up waiting it out through a very restless night and so I had by this morning gone 50 hours without methadone. I was so scared to risk precipitated withdrawals from dosing with subutex too early. At 7am I took 1mg only and although it relieved my aching legs I still didn't feel very well so 3 hours later I had another 1mg and feel just fine now. Hopefully I will be able to reduce fairly quickly over the coming weeks and I'm thrilled that the transfer from methadone went so well.

Just wanted to say Good luck to ya. I am on 95mg. of methadone, the Doctor I am going to said to wait 3 days after my dose before starting the subutex, and after a couple months if I wasn't to sick he would switch me to Suboxone and taper me off of it. By no means is this medical advice. I am still contemplateing  I am told that you will have withdrawal symptoms since the sub kicks all the meth. outa your system big time.
Good luck

Hi :)
This is a slow time here at the forum and from your words i assume you are doing this on your own, without a doctor...I don't have experience with those substances but i hope someone will come and help you. Luckily, hellc@mst may be around as he is in New zealand and can help you with your questions.
