I am not sure if there is such thing as a tper that prevents relapse...only u have power over that...tapering oe CT like eagle said are options..CT is easiest for me as i am a taper cheater....aftercare helps prevent relapse...and as mentioned there are aso the maintenence drugs like sub if u can not quit on ur own..but they do not prevent relapse either...it is upstairs..it is ur mind and determination that will prevent relapse
Find a support group and GO! A good aftercare program is the only way almost all of us can stay clean. If you don't talk to and interact with other people who have been where you are and can give you advice and tell you like it is when you need to hear it, you will go back. If you slipped on your taper, just learn from it, get up and start where you left off. The only other option without trading for another drug is cold turkey. You have to decide right now what you want more- to be sober, or not go CT. If you have endured a period of time w/drugs, you can endure 7 days of physical w/d. Believe in yourself and don't give up. fight w/everything you have- you can beat it. continue to post your questions here, and try to get to an AA/NA meeting. If anything, it at least will keep you from using for an hour!
I agree with Eagle..tramadol is not going to cut it and carries with it it's own hellish w/ds....good luck on what ever decision you make...just get back on the taper..have someone you TRUST..hold them for you if possible...I also am not patient and have very little self control to taper..most people find tapering difficult for that reason..But there is always HOPE...don't ever give up...
There is most certainly hope for you - in fact I could have written your post - About a forty year history of abuse starting during Vietnam .....with 2 trips to ER on life support in the last 2 years ...... currently clean for a little over a year....I did the ct route - I am not patient or disciplined enough to taper. You really only have a few options...exercise discipline and taper, suck it up and go c.t. - opt for either methadone or suboxone therapy. Think really hard before you decide to trade one habit for another - both meth and sub can be losers... tramadol wont cut it for this one.....good luck - I am shooting you a PM
