How to wean off Klonopin.

I went to a psychiatrist a little over 3 years ago to be detoxed off opiates.   I was put on Suboxone 8 mg twice a day and in addition Klonopin 1 mg three times a day.  I've had repeatedly asked my doctor "when are you going to wean me off...."I think I'm becoming addicted to these meds."  His response VERBATIM was "you probably are."  I am now more depressed, anxious and don't know what to do.  Why did he prescribe Klonpin to a person who suffers from addiction?  Do I have a med mal case?  I think this is completely unethical that he now has me on Suboxone for over three years (I've cut myself down to 6 mg/day) because I have lost thousands of dollars seeing this doctor only to give me a prescption every month.  Need advice to get off the Klonopin (not rehab or detox).  I've been that route and almost seized after a 7 day detox.  Thanks

I finally switched to another doctor.  The problem is no doctor WITH ETHICS will prescribe Suboxone along with Klonopin and Ambien.  I had to convince this new doctor that I want to get off the Suboxone, but my anxiety is so severe.  He told me I have been over prescribed and "I could lose my license if I prescribe that amount of Klonopin (1.5 mg 3 times per day).  So, he gave me a script for 1 mg twice a day. I have been shaking, heart racing, floaters around my eyes, just feeling plain awful.  I also mentioned (while I was hysterical crying) that I am severely depressed.  The first doctor said "I don't think that has to do with the Suboxone."  The new doctor said "I will take care of you."  But, did not address my depression and left me with a script for less than HALF of the amount of Klonopin I was taking.  I also have severe tooth decay after being on Suboxone for so long.  I was NEVER on opiates for more than 1-2 years at a time.  I have now been on Suboxone for 3-1/2 years and I am feeling worse...physically and mentally.  I was advised to report my doctor and I just can't find the help I need.  After I saw the new doctor, he said "if you're having problems call me."  Well, I was in excruciating pain with my tooth...I called him and he said "Have I seen you before?"  All these doctors care about is their wallet.  They know nothing of the drugs they are prescfribing. Furthermore, he said "so, go to the dentist and he will give you pain medication."  I don't understand.  I thought you couldn't take pain meds (opiates) with Suboxone.  I need to see someone who KNOWS what they are doing.  These doctors take an 8 hour course, charge exhorbitant fees and then get you hooked on a different drug.  Angry, frustrated, depressed and need help BAD!!

As for the klonopin, One of my best friends was prescribed suboxone and those evil green pills. he got off of the Klonopin or greens by tapering down very slowly, klonopin has such a long half life that the WDs last a long time as you know.

With the methadone and doctor problem. You can see a doctor and tell them your having a problem, it will be okay.

You can do it without seeing a doctor I am on day 11 with no methadone. Just taper down by 5mg every week until you get to 5 or 10 mg, then try to get a week or two where you can just sit around. Its hard but its better than feeling insane from staying on methadone.

As you have experienced, Benzodiazepines have to be titrated really slowly with the proper medical assistance to prevent seizures. Maybe you should get a 2nd opinion, someone that is willing to help you come off these medication. Regarding depression , it could be a side effect of the Suboxone. We see quite a few patients that are dependent on Suboxone that have become more and more depressed, that is something you should take in consideration as well.
