no you definitely do NOT want a benzo problem, as long as you get off Ambien FAST you should be fine. I stick with EXACTLY what dominosarah said above, just be careful. Keep us posted on how you're doing. Glad you got some sleep, it's much needed during w/d's and very hard to get! Hang in there :)
hi all- slept great! wasout from about 8-1:40am took another ambian and slept til morning (around 8). by the way I'm w/d-ing from opiates. never had a benzo prob. and don't want to!
Hope you get some rest tonight, I don't know what you're w/d ing from either, but I agree that the lack of sleep is the WORST part of w/d from anything really, for most people. As long as you aren't abusing Ambien, then I don't see anything wrong with it. Have you tried Melatonin? It works for some people, and it really helped me a lot during w/d's! Best wishes to you ♥
I'm glad you got a little rest Natalie.
lack of sleep can make us weak//makes us fail often at our long term goal cos we r so tired we will do anything to feel better
If u r wd-ing from benzos, then ambien and lunesta are chemically similar in nature//not as habit forming as benzos r//not near as habit forming...often a benzo withdrawal is given a weaker benzo to help thru///and ambien or lunesta are still better than continuing ur doc...not as strong as any benzo//tho drinking with either can cause blackouts//so no alcohol//and go straight to bed after taking these.
if it is narcotic wd, then many use a benzo for sleep issues//not the best choice//but as mentioned//we do what we gotta do to reach our long term goal...ambien is less of a potential addiction than a benzo//altho can and is often abused//as r benzos
u know//u r getting clean..u r not superwoman or superman..u r human...and u need to sleep! relax and sleep..it will make u stronger
If you just use them for a week or so you should be fine. I have a prescription for ambien and only take them here and there. I have never had problem with them. I have gone a few weeks at a time without them. They will not drag out your withdrawals or make them worse.
That being said, just take them as needed and for a short period of time.
Exercise works wonders to help with the sleep. Try and wear yourself out during the day. It will also help speed the whole process up.
Keep going strong and know that the withdrawal symptoms will pass.
Best of luck!
Brian
I've had a lot of sleep problems in the past and just took it as precribed. One at bed time. I had a short period where I would take several a day but started forgetting things- so I never did that again. And even if I don't have them- I never have craved or w/d from them. So today when she came I took one and she watched the kids as I took a much needed nap! Only about an hour and a half- but it felt good.
Oh Natalie. It's not ideal but I'm a big believer in whatever it takes to get through it. I do not think it will affect your opiate withdrawal. But fifteen is kind of a lot of ambien. Especially considering it is addictive in its own way. Please be careful. I've shot up enough dope to kill a rhino and I'm scared of Ambien. Good luck and come back and talk to us after you've gotten your nap.
hi...i m not sure what you are wd/ing from but when you don t sleep it is horrible....i went through it when i stopped opiates...omg it was heLL but after many mixed nights of sleep and no sleep or a little sleep it all came back...just takes time to get our brains natural state back....no it wasn t a mistake...hang in there...maria
I am very proud of you that you are quitting. I know that you are desperate for sleep but there are other ways to get it instead of the ambien. I think you are right that it is going to prolong your symptoms. I have had similar problems and I tried the Thomas recipe that is on this website and it worked. I also used a product called restful legs that you can find at walgreens. Does your mom also have an addiction problem? Is she trying to quit also? I am sorry that you are going through this but in the long run, it is so worth it. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing
