Success at last

Hi everyone! I just wanted to post my little success story in hopes that I can be an encouragment to anyone who is wanting to or is in the process of quitting opiates. I'm a 21 year old mom of 2 under the age of 3 and I have been addicted to oxycodine and hydrocodine for 2 years. It started off as a means to get high but turned into a full blown and out of control addiction. It got to where I was spending more time and money on these stupid pills than with my family. No one but my husband knew and I planned to keep it that way. After becoming a mom at 17 all I wanted was to prove to the rest of my family that I was in control and on the right path. Little did they know.. I was drowning in a sea of addiction and guilt. I've been "lurking" on these forums for a few months now getting advice and reading of other people's struggles. I'd tried quitting a few times before but never had the strength to make it past day 2 of withdrawls. I decided it was FINALLY time to quit these little devils FOR GOOD and never look back. I am now 14 days sober and I feel ABSOLUTLY amazing. Although I know I will always be an addict, I also know that I will NEVER go back. I confessed to my mother and a few other family members and to my suprise they were extremely supportive and have been my biggest go to people. I was even able to ask my grandmother to make sure all of her pills were hidden tonight at a family function (if you knew me or my family, thats a HUGE deal for me) I feel like I have my life back although I know I will always struggle. I'm attending NA and seeing a counselor because I know the importance of after care and getting to the root of the problem. I just feel so proud of myself and accomplished. I made it through the hells of w/d's while caring for my 2 children. Not many can say that :) Anyways..just wanted  to let everyone know that it IS possible, not easy, but possible and also thank everyone for all the advice and encouragment they have posted. You guys are amazing.

That is amazing!!! That has been one of my main obstacle, i have ONE 2 year old AND a husband that works ALL THE TIME and at NIGHT, which means he sleeps in the day, so i have used that excuse not to quit SEVERAL times!!! I finally told my husband, STAY HOME (last night, saturday) today because i NEED MY LIFE BACK!! I WANT OFF THESE STUPID PILLS AND OUT OF THIS PRISON NOW!!!! So, he stayed home and is off for the next three nights, im praying that the WORST of the w/ds are over by then. GREAT JOB AND KEEP UP THE HARD WORK!
