I want to know how to get off my oxycontin and oxynorm

Hi
I dont know if anyone can help me but i am hoping someone can,

In Jan 2007 i was diagnosed with Giant Cell Tumor (one in a million they say) in the T6 T7 vertabrae by the time they had found it i had fractured my spine.

When i left hospital they put me on Oxycontin 20mg and Oxynorm 40mg it has now been well over a year and i am still on them. They are taking over my lifoe andi dont want that no more i want my life back.

I was referred to the pain clinic as i tryed to commit suicide by overdosing on my meds, they make me feel like an addict i feel useless on them. At the pain clinic they tryed to lower my meds but i could not deal with the effects of aftermath the shaking hands anxiety sweat - i could not sit still i got angry and moody.

Please tell me how i get off them - i dont want to live my life like this.
I am thinking of asking my doctors to admit me and get me off them that way.

Can someone out there help me???? :'(

I'm so sorry this happened! I know how awful the withdrawals are and if you need something for pain have you thought about methodone or suboxone? I personally wouldn't go the methedone route b/c I've heard too many horror stories but suboxone seems to have helped a lot of people and I believe it's for pain as well.
Most of the people here are great and have so much information for you, stick around for a while and I'm sure someone will have some advice for you who has been in a similar situation.

are yu still taking the 60 mg a day?  or have u increased the dose over the last year?  quitting can be done by tapering down over a bit of time to a smaller dose or by CT...cold turkey/just flush them and quit...the thomas recipe is in the healthpages,,and lots of support here on the forum
