In OUR minds we are a lso bulletproof - - -

Last monday found me transpored to the hospital unconscious. B/P 60-40 ---------core temp 95 ----------no respirations.... PAO2 could not find a decent oxygen level anywhere. ............ siezing with four inch bounces on a stainless table - - - - - - - very hard save and a miracle that I made it ---------------------------------

Not about me, though. I got home late late Friday night.....my son was happy I was home and made arrangenements to meet friends.  One friend (early 20's, full of potential, the whole world ahead..)  failed to show up on time. He had taken some zanax......stopped for a couple drinks at the bar, and decided to smoke a little of a fentanyl patch before he dressed for the evening.  He was found a 9:15 PM when he was late to meet friends. He had passed away from repiratory arrest initiaited by the several depressants that he had ingested................so very sad - so much potential -

Eagle, it's good to see you're ok, we can thank God for that.  As far as the young man, it's so tragic.  You hear of these deaths happening and a lot of times it's not about people who are actually technically addicted to these pills.  A lot of times it's just someone trying to get a buzz and they go too far.  It should be something we should all think about as addicts.  If you've been clean a long time or you're just thinking about cleaning up, we can learn something from these horrible stories of young lives being lost.  Some of them weren't technically addicted and it led to their death, so imagine what we do to ourselves as addicts.  Each day we use are taking our own lives in our hands.  It sure as heck makes me think and makes me want to continue to stay clean.

Again Eagle, we are all happy you are ok and I will pray for that young man's family and thanks for sharing that story.  It's stories like that, that help us keep doing what we do.  Take care.

Barry

Eagle your so ******* tough your gonna out live us all man. Glad you are ok. I am so sorry to hear about this young man. It's so sad and this problem is only getting worse. So many young people losing and destroying their lives and taking families down with them. Each one of us here should be grateful we made it out, I thought I was bulletproof too. Have to thank absolutely everyone that replied and also those that read and could only shake their heads....................people are right - - - this isnt an area or regional problem. Its turning into the whole fricking world. Unfortunately our young (our best and brightest...) are also equiped with disposable income and not enough life/death choices made and consequences witnessed to make the correct choice sometimes. I, myself, was young and bulletproof at some time!!  Sure not the case now..........

Hey Eagle.. So very glad you are still with us.. You have much to teach and much to look forward too. Spring is arriving and Following a Beautiful Summer :)

I'm very sorry to hear of this young man His tragic death is felt wide as it touches every one of us.. but mostly my heart goes out to any whom loved him for it is tragic... Unfortunately while doing Heroin.. this is a familiar story OD It is sad and a fact of drug abuse and or addiction.. The only benefit I can see is that his friends have had a hard but unforgettable lesson.. warmly lesa

Thanks guys - - it is such a waste and has devastated so many people....young and old. I only hope that my sons and their groups can learn and live....the older one seems to be doing well  ...its a scary / dangerous place for young folks these days - - -   I dont recall worrying about much besides a car wreck or an enemy bullet at that age............much safer world!

Scary things for you but you're here and that's good.  I didn't realize you could 'smoke' a patch....sad for the young man.

I was wondering what happened too you Im so glad you are ok, and what you said about that young boy seems to happen here every week. I live in a very unpopulated area the closest town has bout 2500 people and we hear about overdose all the time. My kids 2 boys and a gril has lost many friends to this and I guess the only good thing about my addiction is it has showed them what pain meds and anti-depressants will do. There was a young man o/d'd this week due to fenynal patches. It is so sad what can happen to people. WHAT YOU POSTED WAS VERY MUCH NEEDED!!!! Thankx for the post.
