my partner cant live without pot

my partner has smoked pot almost on a daily basis for 19 years. He says he smokes it to feel normal. Lately the pot hasnt been working, His so angry and nasty and at time violent. He has no energy to do anything he doesnt eat properly sometimes going two to three days just living on coffee. His struggling with issues from his childhood but wont talk to any one not even a counsellor. He has no close friends yet his the kind of guy that everyone likes when they meet him. He wakes up and is so angry and nasty to me until he has bongs, my question is.....is the anger, nastiness and violent behaviour from withdrawls of pot could there be a mental issue? I want to help him be the partner and father he used to be but i'm at a loss as to what to do anymore. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, the idea is for you to live happy, joyous and free regardless of your partner's outlook on life caused by his disease of addiction. That involves working on yourself in a fellowship like Al-anon.

Hi there and welcome! We also have a LIVING WITH AN ADDICT forum that you might want to check out..
YOU deserve better than to be mistreated! Their is NO EXCUSE for that!! Unfortunately, you can't make him change.. Only he can do that. You don't have to stick around and be mistreated.. If he won't get help or treat you with respect then you may have to leave him to wallow in his own misery.
