Self medicating...just read it...imbalances that caused us to abuse in the first place...fixing them after detox is the challenge...as they are still there for me...i see it very clearly now...I am not bipolar or anything i dont hink...but they did help my moods...for a while...great article

W2long yes for sure, Becky102 agree alot of people who are self medicators out there, im not sure if that's still addiction though or falls under something else, I would imagine alot of people maybe have underlying issues.Here there is alot of homelessness and MH issues alcholism etc. I wonder how many of there lives would be different if they got the right medication/assitance

That was a very well written article.  It demonstrates that many people who abuse drugs are actually self-medicating in order to feel normal.  
My heart goes out to all the people who have to struggle with mental illness and drug addiction throgh no fault of their own but because of their genetic profile.
