you should be down to 30mg of methadone, and then switch to the suboxone, but you have to be off methodone for i believe 2 days, so you will be in withdrawals. then once you start the suboxone you will feel much better. My husband went through the same thing. The suboxone he took for a year with no problems, and it is supposed to be super easy to wean yourself off of when you are ready & comfortable to. You literally almost forget about your "problem" while taking the suboxone... But I suppose as with any drugs, everyones body reacts different. Best wishes to you:)
As you know methadone has a long half life, so you must taper down to under 30mgs, some doctors even want you lower then this, also their will come a time when you must taper off sub & if your on methadone most doctors recomend you stay on it a bit longer then if you were on other opiates, this was gonna be the route I was gonna go down but in the end I did the slow taper off methadone & was fine after about 3 weeks.
If you switch over to suboxone from 90mgs of methadone even if you are in withdrawl you will end up with precipitated withdrawals from what I have heard they are awful. Make sure you talk to your doctor about tapering down first
Yes, you can switch to Suboxone, but you'd have to be in withdrawels before starting it. Go to Suboxone.com and find a doctor near you. Call a few of them as the pricing varies. They should advise you how to proceed.
If you have any questions about Sub, you can PM me.
Good luck,

I believe you have to be down to 20mg of methadone to transition to sub so you would have to taper for awhile.
It would be good to ask the sub Dr what is possible. Also, shop around for sub Drs. there can be a wide range of prices and methods.
