Just found out Im pregnant-scared tho what to do as im on 30mg methadone

Question

Hi I have just found out I am pregnant. 4 pregnancy tests later. done 2 clear blues yesterday it predicted me 4-5wks. but this mornings urine says 3-4wks!!
Anyhow, I really want this baby, but I am on 30mg of methadone. and was wondering whether there's ways to sory it now whilst im only a few weeks.
im not bothered bout going cold turkey...but if there was something i could take to help, id prefer that!!
I just want to try and do it the best way for the baby!! I couldn't have a baby that'd be addicted cos of me!! not fair!! Please can anyone help me!! thanks

Got some advice yesterday. The more I was reading the worse i was feeling.
 I got advised that some babies can be born absolutely fine,and thats with the mum carrying on with a methadone dose. but on the other hand some babies can be born and not be alright.
i got advised not to do anything drastic!!!!   As in try go wi out this weekend.see howe it'd be.
Has anyone been able to cut down through their pregnancy and had their baby and he/she came out fine and healthy??

Hiya wen ya say its been done before with doctor supervision... do ya mean getting off the methadone whilst pregnant? thanks for your help.xx

Thank you and so sorry to hear you lost your baby. iv mentioned it to my keyworker yesterday, and she's advised me to see a doctor. feel abit better now that some babies are born okay even know there's been methadone use. But im really determined tho to maybe cut down before i get to 6wks. say by 5mg to go down weekly, and then when it gets hard to cut down slower...say by 2.5mg BUT with the doctors advice though!!

I completely agree with the above posts hun. You gotta get in to see a Dr ASAP! Congratulations tho! It'll be easier with the supervision of a Dr, it's been done before and I believe you can do it. So keep taking the methadone, and when you see the Dr, you need to explain everything and make sure they understand what you want. Good luck! And again congratulations!

Hi, if you don't have a Dr. yet, you need to tell them you need to get in very soon.  DON'T stop the methadone whatever you do!!!!!!!  Same thing happened to me...I didn't ell the Dr. I was taking it and just stopped cold turkey and I lost the baby, I thought it was the best thing to just not take it cause I was pregnant.  I didn't know that they will help you.  So please tell your Dr.  they know what's best and will help you through it!

I'm sure you don't have a doctor yet but that's number one on your "to do" list,okay?
Never stop the drug abruptly while pregnant,that's dangerous. The doctor may want to taper you but when may be the question...that's really your next step: get a doctor!
