Keep this in mind.

My question is that I heard that methadone stays in your system for years.  Does it?  I don't believe it does.  I have detoxed cold turkey off of Heroin before, 3 days tops, total hell, but I was through with the withdrawals.  Methadone, on the other hand, last longer than a non-synthetic opiate; I'd say, 7-8 times longer per dose.  So, I expect that my withdrawals could possibly last no loner than 3 weeks.  However, I am feeling better after 13 days, not the greatest.  Still sneezing, still have loose bowels(somewhat), anxiety, and confusion, about how in the heck I am going to stay off this drug that is so powerful, available, and illegal.  Well, I am a going to the Lord now, for once, to leave this life lived in and enslaved to my sinful flesh:
Romans 8:12-13
"So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--
for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live."

1 Corinthians 10:21
"You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons."

I desire to stop, but I want my motive to be pure because now I know that I have a new reason to live- for the Glory of God.

James 1:3
"knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

Yes, this is a self-inflicted trial, but the Lord still cares and loves those who love and want to follow Him.  It is a love He instills, a love He sparks, that is His grace.  So if you have the desire to get off this drug for the sake of His glory and sake of strengthening your brothers and sisters.  Remember this:
1 Peter 5:10
"After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you."

And pray for me, Rob, to not be a hypocrite anymore!

God bless you.

Methadone is fat soluble. Therefore it's stored in fat cells in the body. I've heard that minute trace amounts continued to be secreted for months..but, not years. Exercise can help..get some aftercare and exercise.
