hi- i am currently on day sick of oxy withdrawal, a much higher mg per day. I found that if you can go to a doctor who is experienced in addiction, they can prescribe you a benzo, like klonopin or librium. these are the drugs they give in detox to help manage the withdrawals. days at the most. Also there is a drug called clonidine that helps , it's non habit forming so i think docs like prescribing that better. the klonopin and librium help but they are addictive so make sure you take them no longer than 5-7 without that, go to the store before you feel sick and stock up on advil or ibuprofen, immodium AD for the runs, anything you can find for the nausea, and protein shakes or powder. You won't feel like eating, but it's important to get nutrients and for some reason it was easier for me to drink then eat. Hot baths also help big time, spend the whole time in hot water if you need to.
oops meant to say day six
check out the thomas recipe and amino acid protocol. get gatorade, immodium and bananas, plan on have flu like symptoms for about a week, take lots of hot baths,. exercise when you can and make yourself eat something. there is also an otc called hylands restful leg that works wonders for rls. post and keep posting, read other threads, know we are here to help and support you. you can do this! take care and please stay in touch..
Thank you for your replies. I took my last oxy tonight, just half a pill to help me get a bit of sleep tonight. I did my shopping today and got the needed supplies for wd. Called my docs office and left a message telling them to call the pharmacy and tell them to not give me any refills. That was a scary call but had to be done. If I have real problems my doc will likely see me and give me something to help too. I have been tapering with her help so she knows all about it.
Well off to bed now. See everyone tomorrow...........
Hi. And Congrats on your new life. It will be well worth it in the long run .Keep us posted and be patient with yourself. God Bless
Steve
That is so awesome that made the call to cancel your refills. I am not there not, but I am thrilled that you had the courage to do that!!
AWESOME!
You have done a huge step! Way to go. Dark chocolate can help cravings. Make sure it is at least 70% cocoa. I tried to not eat it at night as it tends to keep me awake.
Think about exercise if you can; the endorphins released from good exercise help stabilize you. Also, read the PAWS info...there are some things you need to be aware of in the upcoming weeks of your recovery.
I am actually a mental health worker and worked with women with various addictions and recovery. Always felt like such a hypocrate when they would say "you dont know what its like to need something to get out of bed everyday'. I certainly did. As a counselor it wasnt my place to talk about me but it wouldnt of been career killing for me either, and after I kick this I might. I was just too ashamed.
So I already know about the mental **** I could go through and hope I can recognize it for what it is if necessary.
Anyway, day 1 of clean time!!! Havent been able to say that in 9 or 10 years.
