Lyrica for Sub withdrawl?

HI,
Last week I tried to go Cold Turkey off 4mgs of Sub
and Wow I couldn't handle it- felt horrible-
all week I have been trying to take as little as possible-and just feel horrible
So I decided I better do this taper a bit more carefully
and really pay attention to what I am taking- So I saw my Doc today
he told me I needed to take a bit more- maybe go back to 4mg - he said I dropped too fast too soon-
then when I felt ok after a couple days to begin the taper
He gave me Lyrica to help with shakes and I was wondering if anyone knows
if this will be a good med to help me through this taper?
He also gave me Ambien- and I have clonidine for my RLS- when it happens-
All I have read are really bad stories and not very many good stories about this withdrawal-
Is there anyone out there that actually had little trouble doing this taper thing?
I really didn't realize I would have any withdrawal from this stuff- thought it was a miracle drug
Will Lyrica help me? or will it weird me out?
just wondering if anyone knows
and how bad will this withdrawal be? I am really scared
Have been on Sub for a year- and just want to be off- shooting for 6-7 weeks
Anyone out there?

Seems as if ur dr is trying to stay away from addictive meds...lyrica can have a sedating effect..so can clonidine and it slows down stuff and helps the runs too//i would still get some immodium tho and push fluids
Ambien is a bit controversial and can be abused...not physically addictive per say but anything we use for sleep can be mentally addictive//even benadryl or nyquil..ambien is a better choice for sleep than a benzo//but peeps with a benzo tolerence usually do not respon well to ambien as they r chemically related as is lunesta
Some even use muscle relaxers as most r not habit forming with the exception of Soma..sounds like ur dr is doing a good job helping u out here...but 4 mgs of sub is a large dose to Jump off at...most go down to 2 mgs then slivers of sub before jumping off....4 mgs is alot of sub...sounds like u r ready to be narcotic fee///most taper down to 2 mgs then go down from there..the going gets tough during sub tapers for most//depending on their start dose...at 4 mgs a day...for those at 12 mgs or a lower sub dose as huge doses r usualy prescribed...getting down to 2 mgs is easy due to the long half life of sub and often cos that is all they really ever needed in the first place!  Then peeps go the 1 mg then pieces or shavings..or skip a day etc..

Do what u gotta do if ur goal is to be narcotic free! and it is a great goal and sounds as if u r giving it all u got! Try ur best not to let sub become  a new DOC...I am sure whn u started sub it was not intended for it to become ur new "ball and chain"  Sometimes we need support when our avenue to feeling better is in our reach so tapering can be very tough..if it becomes a problem and u start taking more and mor sub/hand them over to someone u trust to dole out to u daily..it can help..and be sure u r getting the aftercare or support u need right now...letting go is hard//and doing it alone is harder

If the doctor recommeded you take it with the other meds I think I would do what he said he seems to know what he is talking about .If the meds make it worse then you have the chioce to stop taking them .I think it really help
