Lyrica

Hello! My Dr prescribed me Lyrica and I have been readin about this drug, but I can't seem to find anything telling me what is in it. Does anyone know the ingredients? I was told it was a non-narcotic drug but then the leaflet says that it can be addictive and do not stop immediately..blah,blah, blah...does anyone know what is in this stuff? I have been taking it along with Avinza (60 mg) which is what my dr prescribed and so far I guess it works okay, hard to tell though since I am on Avinza, that may be what is helping my pain. Any info would be great..thanks!

Lyrica is a gabapentinoid like Neurontin (as was mentioned), although more powerful in efficacy.  It's pharmacological name is pregabalin.  It's addiction potential is low, although there.  wd symptoms are not even close to opioids or benzos.  It is often abused for a GHB effect, sort of a heavy drunkeness.  Some users do report euphoria at much higher levels than others, so there is a risk of psychological addiction with these people.  Also, as was mentioned, there are attenuate side effects, with memory loss and weight gain being prominent.  Read the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyrica and speak to your pharmacist for more info.

I was briefly diagnosed with RSD and was prescribed Lyrica for the severe nerve pain I was experiencing. I found that it did take away my nerve pain but at a great cost to me, it messed with my memory and I also gained 30lbs in 6 weeks while I was taking it. Im not totally positive that it alone caused the weight gain, but there wasnt really anything else it could have been. As for the memory problems, it seemed like constantly was having my family and friends tell me about conversations we'd had and I couldnt remember many of them. I dont want to totally knock lyrica, because it did really help with the severe pain, but the side effects for me were pretty bad. Thankfully the doctors determined later that I dont have RSD and alot of my nerve pain subsided when I began stretching and excercising during physical therapy. I still have Lyrica for when I get nerve pain, but I havent had to take it for a couple of months now. So just wanted to warn you of the problems that I had, Ive talked with others who didnt have really any bad side effects. I wish you all the best with your recovery. Take care.

it is a nerve blocker like neurontin but it is habit forming and not recomended for addicts....my friend is addicted to it...so it is the truth...does nothing for me except make me feel like a ton of bricks wet...hits her pleasure button and she loves it...everyone is different...not a safe drug
