Marijuana addiction?

Hi ~ my ex husband has been "addicted" (he says) to marijuana for 15 years. He has put our son in some pretty scary situations. (When he was 3,  he brought him to a "friends" house. Well...at that EXACT time, it was being drug raided and there were cops with masks and guns). We have been back and forth in the courts about his drug abuse for the past 2 years with him getting is parental visitation taken away twice because he can't seem to stay off the stuff. He hasn't held a "real" job in about 4-5 years because he can't stay clean. About 5 years ago he also did cocaine for a period of time. My question is, if marijuana isn't addicting, why does he say he has a hard time quitting? Like he says he gets stomach pain and other "withdrawal" symptoms.

I think that ya ok when getting off any drug even alcoholthe addict wil lfeel sick. But speaking from experience my ex is addicted to crack he gets stomahc cramps, diarrhea real bad feel awful when off it for over a week.
I think though that the withdrawls would be a lot easier than the other alternative they stay a addict and die.

You are exactly correct. MARIJUANA IS NOT PHYSICALLY ADDICTIVE. It can be mildly psychologically addict though...if you let it. Depending on the potency and how much/often one uses it must be taken into consideration regarding this though. It can be abused like alcohol (which is immensely physically addictive as well as psychological). Use it in moderation is the key. Notice I said "use" it, NOT "smoke" it. If marijuana is used often they should use a Vaporizer machine which is electric and not burned. There is NO combustion. Therefore, there will no smoke and 98% of other potential ingredients are also eliminated. You don't want smoke entering your lungs anyway.
Working as Federal Agent undercover for 30+ years with honors.  I feel compelled to advise folks of all I have learned in that time and share with them ideas/concerns and one of these involves what is currently going on down in Mexico where I have worked covertly, as well as Texas and Arizona. Because God judges us on how much we help others. The Mexican cartels, as early as this year, will be producing Methamphetamine because it is Not affected by droughts and takes much less time to produce and is the most addictive man made drug on the market today as 70% of the marijuana crop has been destroyed this year due to severe drought. The U.S. gets approx. 80% of its marijuana from northern Mexico. Also, since marijuana is bulky it is easier to detect and since there has been so much attention focused on our borders due to illegal immigration the chances of being caught are higher. Look for marijuana coming across the borders to be laced with meth this year. Consumers beware!!  This is why I have petitioned the Obama administration and congressman to be aware of this very dangerous problem. Marijuana needs to be legalized in America and this is not to generate revenue but is first and foremost a "safety" issue. If Obama doesn't the potential health care costs from this could be astounding. Please advise as many people as you can about this problem. Sincerely with regards,  Donald

Boy did THAT bring up memories. (reading your post)  Both me and my deceased brother were brought up in a drug/alcohol environment. It started with weed and got worse with alcohol, cocaine then herion. My dad smoked and sold pot as long as I can remember. They tried hiding it but we could tell what was going on even at an early age. I will NEVER forget as a young girl him being high and telling me to take the wheel coming down a mountain in his new custom van. Scared as ****, I did it. I have other f**ked up memories of him doing scary things while high. That van ended up being wrapped around a tree. He was clinically dead as a result. Luckily he survived that one.  Growing up, we both ended up addicts.  After a long battle with addiction, my wonderful brother lost his life. He od'ed in 2002. My dad is now on *legal* drugs as prescribed for pain. I have been clean and sober going on 1 year next month but it has been FAR from easy. Doing any type of drug around your children is so detramental to their health...BOTH psychological AND physical.  I am living proof.
