Methadone Withdrawal Question

I was taking 120-140mg of methadone a day 5 weeks ago. I missed an appointment at my pain center and showed up on the wrong day and so they dropped me from the program right there. No methadone prescription. Just sorry and see ya. I didnt really start getting sick until the 4th day and went to the ER who sent me home after I begged them to not because at that time I hurt so bad and psychologically I knew I should not go home. They told me to go home and lie down. Yeah Ok. I did but woke up in the middle of the night and just wanted to die. Thank God I had an appointment at my therapist  the next day and she got me admitted to detox to help with the withdrawal. All I can say is it is a pain I dont wish on my worst enemy and I hope to never have to go through that again.

My question is, how long does detox take roughly because I am still feeling the symptoms of it on a daily basis. I am also craving for the past week and am so afraid to give into that but my therapist told me that is part of the detox. I have other symptoms which include no appetite due to the fact that I always feel sick to my stomach, lightheadedness, diarrhea, muscle tremors, chills and pain in the arms and legs, depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I can go 4 or 5 days and not sleep and then crash for a day.

Just am so tired of the whole thing. I did try to get into another pain center but they denied me because i just got out of detox and they said i was not a good fit. After careful thinking I am pretty sure I dont want to go back on opiates as I am so afraid to have to ever go through this again.

how many days were you in detox?
what meds did they give you when you were there?
how long ago did you go?
you need to stay hydrated. gatorade and juices. you have to force yourself to eat. light meals, soups, yogurt, smoothies, milk shakes, crackers, bananas, rices, apples, toast. not enough fluids and food will add to the dizziness. immodium for diarrhea and cramping.
sending encouragment and support,
debbie

Hi...so you stopped methadone at 120-140mg????....You probably feel so rough because methadone has to be tapered down real slow...I was on 80-90 mg a day for over 7 yrs and it took me 6 months to taper...today is 26 days methadone free for me and I'm still feeling withdrawals...I've heard it can take around 90 days to feel better....you can pick up a calcium/magnesium/zinc supplement, take 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening..it will help with rls....lots of hot baths with Epsom salt for the aches...and I know it sounds impossible, but exercise is key..it has helped me soooo much...just get out in the sunshine and take a brisk walk everyday..I promise it will make you feel lots better...wishing you the best of luck!....Teri  :)
