What happens if you mix Ativan with Valium?

So after all this time, what can you say about your experience mixing the meds?

Thank you both...  I took both, no DR prescribes them to me at the same time.  I had a bottle of Ativan left and was on Valium and kept taking the Ativan.

Hi and Welcome! tomskat is right - both are benzodiazapines and have a depressant effect on your system.  My question to you is, why are you asking this question?  

Is this something that was prescribed to you?  Any reasonable doctor would not prescribe these 2 medications to be taken concurrently.  Or are you concerned for someone else who has taken them?

Hi there. I believe both are benzodiazapines trherefore they both will make you extremely tired,and a potential overdose could happen. Ativan is used to relax/calm you down and so is Valium,in essence.However Valium can also be used as a muscle relaxant. I would sstrongly advise against taking both.You may want to consullt with your doctor as well.Please be careful!!
