Muscle pain

I started suboxone about a week ago and I am doing pretty good. However, about 3 days ago I started having really bad muscle pain, burning, and aches in my legs. My muscles all  over my body will twitch when I am trying to go to sleep. This is really the only w/d symptom I have but why did it just start? Or is this a side effect from the sub?

Cattalina- great advice. I completely agree with your sub advice. Alicat, if you were taking Lortab, you may experience withdraws for a week or twoo. With Subs, withdraws can last months. Trust me, I'm on day 6. I would taper down immediately and not stay on long. My doctor once told me I may need to be on them for the rest of my life-worse advice I've ever had!

Exactly!! I had these adorable tiny diamond stud earrings and I couldn't wear them to bed cuz they would scrape against the pillow and the sound was OMG horrible. Seems kind of oddball but subs affect neurologically, then that affect on hearing... no wonder really. I never got high or anything off the sub either - still don't - just made me feel 'normal' so I could function. Honestly that doesn't mean a thing when it comes to the taper - not one iota. Sub binds to the opiate receptors which cause changes in the brain and body which translates to dependence. One more thing - be careful - most doctors don't know jack about sub. Listening to my doctor is what actually got me into this mess. I wanted to be off within 6 months he assured me there was no reason to rush it. Remember sub has a 72 hour half life - that's the most important piece of advice I can give you for when you start the taper. Ok, I tend to be super long-winded with sub so I'll shut up now but seriously I'm here if I can help at all with anything. GL

Thanks for the info. Im gonna send lisa a pm. I dont get any kind of high or different feeling at all when I take the sub so I don't think I will have a problem tapering. I hope anyway. I called my dr's office and talked to the nurse about this. She is going to see what the dr recommends. I will start with a lower dose tomorrow and hopefully get off before this gets too bad. I have also noticed sensitive hearing. I was freaking out yesterday when my daughter was writing on the chalk board!!

Like I said before, you have to do what you need to do for you. Making all the mistakes I did with sub (I did heroin for years previously) personally I wouldn't neccearily recommend people sub for a pill addiction unless it's oxys or something of that magnitude but that's just my own opinion, you know? The bupe in sub is outrageously strong, way stronger than lortabs, so alot of pill addicts end up in a worse situation than with their doc. But if you set a good plan and stick to it you may be able to avoid that worse situation. Maybe consider a 21 day taper? You will have to taper... don't ct. Talk to Lisa - liscamdave - she did a quick taper in the past and it worked well for her. One last thing - smaller doses of sub seem to be more effective, less alot of those side effects. You could probly drop down to as low as 4mg right now and get the maximum effect of sub as well as dropping alot of those annoying side effects. If I can help at all please just let me know ok?

I have read a ton about sub and also talked to a lot of people who were on it.I once bought 2 8 mg subutex(not suboxon)from someone. At the time I was taking about 160 mg of hydrocodone a day for about 6 months (but was on and off opiates for 3 years at the time)and I made those 2 8 mg pills last for 2 weeks,I would take a small crumb when I woke up in the morning.I had very mild w/d but nothing like tapering or cold turkey. When I was done with the 2 pills I was pretty much fine. After about 3 days off I had very very mild w/d but that was it.If I could get 2 more subutex I would instead of this cold turkey hell.

I don't want to tell you what you should or shouldn't do with the sub. Although theres tons of icky side effects, depending on the length and severity of your addiction it may be worth it. The best advice I can lend is don't stay on it longer than 3 months max but again you have to choose for yourself. Me personally I have experienced a broad range of side effects depending on how much I was taking and at what point (been on it for 2 years now). In the beginning there's that annoying (and embarrasing) twitching... severe headaches especially within the first 6 weeks. Sweating more than normal, being overheated easily. Being super tired and drained or having way too much energy. Constipation, shakes, burning/aching muscles, sensitive hearing. This weird skin sensation - I remember I couldn't wear jeans cuz feeling the denim rub against my skin used to kill me... I don't know what that's called, other than awful!! There's way more too, and it all varies with different people. You may not experience alot of those, but those are a handful of the most common ones people experience. What was your past addiction - how long/how much? And how much sub are you currently taking?

The twitching and stuff is definitely a side effect of the opiate in suboxone... Use to happen to me too on suboxone and before suboxone when I was taking 300+ mgs of oxycodone a day.. UGH *flashback* the twitching was awful and it was a sign of my sleep cycle being messed up.... loooong story but my sleep cycle is still messed up from it!  Be careful with the sub, take a little as possible.. bupe is super strong and its not surprising you are having these symptoms..it also made me nod all the time.. I use to sneak into an empty partner office and allow myself to nod out for like 5 minutes at a time each day...

Omg! No one told me(including my dr) that there are side effects like this! What else can I expect? I have only been on the sub for a week and I was so happy because I am getting my life back! This ***** now. Should I start to taper? Since it has only been a week will I have major w/d form the sub?

This is not a wd symptom - this is indeed a sub side effect. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it other that lower your sub dose or quit entirely. Be prepared for a huge host of other side effects you will be going thru - the twitching is not the only one!!
