I just want to send you my blessings and you are absolutely right YOU CAN DO THIS! I went the methodone route and ended up so much worse off.I believe personal knowledge of any drug is the most informative. You did this before so you know you can do it again. You can look up the thomas' recipe on the bottom right hand of page.I believe it includes the use of something like klonopin for a few days to help out with the w/ds.My prayers are with you and please let me know if I can help in any way.Stay strong.I'm pulling for you. Peace.

you do what is best for YOU and what feels right in your heart....i think you already have a clear picture of that for yourself....which is awesome!!!!  stay positive!!!!  that's the hardest part, i think, the mental fortitude, and you, my friend, you seem to have it....way to go!  you go for it, use the klonopin and the valium (short term of course, but you know that), and you post here and let us know of your success.....can't wait to hear about it....keep us the positivity (a word?  don't even think so, but now it is)....my prayers are with you on your journey....   luv and blessings, kim

I feel the same about that but if you need it you need it no one should be crucified for it but you know your body better than anyone so you have the final choice here. I do have faith in you just by the words you post here it seems you have done it before and are ready to do it again. I have done ct and I admit it would have been so much more pleasant and comfortable to use another substance to wd from it but I felt probably like you do about having to use another substance when I am so tired of abusing this sh t. Hang in there and my prayers are with you.... Mike

WOW......you all have no faith it seems like, i'm not trying to trade one addiction for another which is what doing a sub or methadone program is,i know for a fact i can stop using oxy at the amount i am on i have done it before, the only reason i started taking them again was another surgery, but that was the last one so this is the last time.just to prove you all wrong and show you what WE ARE ALL CAPABLE OF i will do it with klonopin and valium, you guys dont give anyone enough credit,it seems like you all are so negitive, and are so use to hearing about the negitive part of it that you all have lost faith is yourselves and other people, trading one addiction for another IS NOT GETTING CLEAN its exactly that,TRADING ONE FOR ANOTHER............damn.

I am not sure that in this day as of this time that suboxone is in the category with methadone...which was intended for long term maintenance with most having little intention of getting off the drug in their lifetime unless they were kicked off for abusing...but i have seen sevral strong troppers detox off meth on this forum...tired but so ready...I am not sure suboxone is in the same category as methadone as a maintenence drug and is still regarded as a detox drug...not a "lifer" like methodone...i guess that can change

.people who have chosen long term narcotic use as the only answer...the last answer to a life of prison or disease or crime...some do have to choose this....and i agree...their life has hit rock bottom ...to survive in life's craziness they must stay on these drugs to cope and live without being arrested or found dead on the side of the street...this exists in every city for sure...it is better than being out on the streets and getting arrested...junkies who could catch hiv...etc...there is a part of the population who is safer on drugs like methadone and suboxone long term ..I am glad i am not one of them but i can empathize.....there are those who just cant get past it...the drug has gotten past them....they choose the safer of 2 evils...dependent upon a clinic who could care not one ioda about them as a rule...for their fix...but this is their life that is better than their life on the streets for sure

That post I wrote wasn't about you, then.
It was about the folks who won't get off narcotics, the only thing they are willing to do is methadone.

For me there are not too many things worse than a life on methadone...my son worked in a meth clinic for 10 years...i helped out during hurricanes and emergencies..I  am a nurse... life with MS tied to the bed and able to use one hand to move at all...just to lift a straw..or a cancer patient who smells so bad u can not walk in the room...a quadriplegic at 22 from a car accidnet...these are worse.....to me there are an awful lot more to life than being on methadone the rest of my life...or any narctotic...but maybe my expectations for life are too high ...i want all i can get out of life and i want it clean

Some people are going to lose their lives to opiates either by death or by destruction. I would rather see someone on methadone than dead or destroying their lives and the lives of their loved ones for the rest of their unfortunate lives.
No one ever thinks of that.
yes, of course, it's better to get off all the way. I would never advice someone to get on methadone rather than get clean and work a program.
But people don't.  Methadone belongs to a class of treatment called Harm Reduction.
read the paper about heroin and oxycontin deaths, about years in jail, about crimes, neglected children taken by DSS, murders and insanity.
Yes, and if you do happen to find yourself on methadone, don't try to stop using at
65 mg, don't even get off at 5 mg. What were they thinking!!!
There are a lot worse things than a life on Methadone.

It sounds like no one here recommends methadone. It does have its disadvantages. However, I've worked in a methadone clinic, and have helped people regain their lives - my own patients, and the place I worked has saved many many other people. They needed the counseling for the recovery piece. However, the counseling is spotty in methadone clinics. In some clinics the counseling ain't worth nuttin! Ours was good. However, Suboxone is less hard to get off, so I've heard. But you MUST do counseling and/or meetings to get  better.

I do agree with naughty..that 240 mg of oxy 3-5 times a day would definitely be a candidate for suboxone......be safe...get with your doctor and let him help you through this ...the forum is a great place for support and this is very do-able....i learned alot thru posting and reading here a while back when i quit...keep posting and keep moving forward

with that kind of dosage per day.......nothing is going to help.  I am concerned for you.  I would wait and see a sub. doctor, because you are definitely a candidate for it.....thats a lot of oxy and (in my opinion) you need to be under a doctors care coming off that amount.  I won't even suggest tapering......Please see a doctor......anyone agree????

Luv,
Nauty..........

to echo what everyone is saying, yes, they will. Don't take too much, watch your level of sedation. I would say suboxone and counseling and meetings would be good. Addiction isn't just a physical thing, you know that, right?

thnx for the input, my dosage is way to high and is to embarrising to even list, but if you must know i take 3 80mg pills at a time about 3-5 times a day,i have been off and on of them for the last year or so,i'll stop using for 2 months then use for 2 months....etc,this is the last time i am stopping though,i'm am over it,and am tired of spending the money on em,i get prescribed 120 every 2 weeks and with no insurance to cover my meds it gets kinda expensive, then when i run out i buy off the street which is even more expensive, just over it all together,so its time to stop, i will use the klonopin to help,i have been prescribed that and valium so i'll try that for a while,if not i will be able to get suboxone scripted to me,but i am trying to avoid that. thnx again dfor the input, you guys are great,i always read but hardly ever post or reply, but i think i will start doing both a lot more.

Yes they will help and especially if you use them in conjunction with the supplements listed. How many days clean are you and what was your normal dosage?
