Exactly - I'm not saying it's a good alternative. I just don't know. It may be for you, definitely something to talk to a doctor about. But keep looking at the options and educate yourself as much as you can. That's what's going to get your through this. I really think there are always more options out there for us than we can usually see sometimes. Be persistent in looking for those options and advocate for yourself within the medical community. Make phone calls, talk to as many people as you can, just don't give up. A lot of people here are thinking about you and care. And hopefully you can find someone in the medical community with the knowledge and caring to help you soon. Keep looking for those options!
wow thanks for taking the time to send that to me. i will have to go over this a few times to understand it more and research it. i was told when you go into treatment, like inpatient they put you on an IV that is not harmful for baby, dont know what they use, just what i have been told, do you think the subutex is what they use??? i am gonna go on safefetus.com and check out this info too, it would be helpful to go in informed.
thanks again
Ran into this in an article:
"Buprenorphine is classified by FDA as a Pregnancy Category C drug. Data from controlled studies on the use of buprenorphine in pregnant women are needed. The available evidence does not show any causal adverse effects on pregnancy or neonatal outcomes from buprenorphine treatment, but this evidence is from case series not from controlled studies."
"Methadone is currently the standard of care in the United States for the treatment of heroin addiction in pregnant women. Pregnant women presenting for treatment of opioid addiction should be referred to specialized services in methadone maintenance treatment programs."
"If such specialized services are refused by a patient or are unavailable in the community, maintenance treatment with the buprenorphine monotherapy formulation may be considered as an alternative."
"In such circumstances, it should be clearly documented in the medical record that the patient has refused methadone maintenance treatment, or that such services were unavailable; that she was informed of the risks of using buprenorphine, a medication that has not been thoroughly studied in pregnancy; and that she understands those risks."

By the way, buprenorphine is sold under the brand name of Subutex or Suboxone (also contains naloxone). Methadone (the 'standard' for use in pregnancy) is also classified as FDA Pregnancy Category C.
Not sure if you were aware that this might be an option - but on the off chance it helps I'd thought I'd post it.
