Need advice, tapering down from methadone, will I lose the weight?

Hi I'm Megan, I have been on Methadone for 4 & 1/2 years now, in my first year I gained 100pounds, crazy! After spending the next year doing everything in my power to lose weight my doctor diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, he gave my synthroid and told me I'd lose all the weight. How exciting! Yayyyy! Yea right! Never happened. Anyway this past June I started tapering down started at 120mg and now I'm at 55mg. During my taper so far I've gone from 224 pounds to 175pounds. my taper has been 5mg about every two to three weeks depending on how I feel, well five weeks ago I lowered my dose to 55mg and I haven't come down anymore for two reasons one I've had a lot of health issues going on lately (abscessed tooth, and other stuff) the second reason I've been withdrawal sence I came down and I can't understand why 5weeks later I'm still withdrawaling? Any ideas? Also another question I suddenly have gained 8 pounds and I'm actually eating healthier and being more active then before I lost the 50 pounds... I gained it like within the past month. I'm freaking out now thinking I'm going to gain all the weight back!! Has anyone while tapering lost weight but gained a couple pounds back then started losing again when continuing to go down? Or is it just me? Other question will I lose a lot of weight while I'm tapering or will I lose most of it once I'm off completely? Or will I not lose it all? Lol sorry for so many questions I just have no one around me at my clinic who has come off that I no. :-( thank you all for your time in advance

Thank you for taking your time and answering me. :-) what about vitadone would that help right now or no? May I ask you how much weight did you gain on methadone and how much weight did you lose during your taper? Then how much weight have you lost sence you've been completely off? Are there certain foods I should be not eating while still on methadone? Like I no sugar isn't good to eat while on methadone but I read somewhere carbs sent good and wheat isn't good either..? I'll be coming down another 5 mg next Friday so I'll be at 50mg. My clinic wants me to switch to suboxen at 20mg finish tapering from that. Have you heard of many success story's when people do this? Thank you for your time I truly appreciate it

Hi  and welcome to the forum....as for the weight it is different for everybody  it is true that methadone slows down your matablizim but I to started to loose the weight wile tapering.....as for the withdrawal it comes and goes for most of us  it did for me I tapered off 150mg in 8 1/2 months so I had them more then not because of the fast taper  I did find a great 3 in 1 vitamin that will really help you get up to walmart and pick up the 3/1 calcium/magnesium/zinc  take 4 with breakfast and 4 with dinner in a few days this will cut down on the withdrawal you feel I only wish I had found it sooner  methadone robs your body of these minerals so replacing them helps alot keep posting for support there are a lot of x/methoadians here on the forum...........................Gnarly................................
