Now what?

Well I finally stopped taking dilaudid entirely.   It sucked but I have to say that it was horrible for a few days especially since I had to keep it to myself- no one in my family knows I was addicted to it.    Everything I read about the withdrawals was true and I still feel funky and out of sorts at times.
I have never enjoyed smoking but now I find myself craving cigarettes.   I hope this craving goes away soon, yet it does help me through the tough times.    I guess my question is: Am I replacing one addiction for another?

Thank you for your support.   I really don't want to smoke especially since I've made it to 40 without ever having been much of a smoker.  It just helps my urges and relaxes me when I feel tense.   I will try working out more-good idea.

Absolutely you are!!!!

You can also do this with....other drugs, alcohol, partners etc etc.
You WILL regret smoking years from now as the above poster states.

All the stuff you feel is part of the healing process, but the cigarttes kill.
I hope you toss them!!!

Great job on stopping the opiates!!!!!

Don't start smoking! I've been doing it for a long time and it is the hardest thing to quit. Maybe try exercise or some other healthier addiction. Good luck. And GREAT job of stopping dilaudid, it must have been really hard all on your own. You're a srtong person!
