Well if you have a plan and hubby will help you taper then that's great!! You're very lucky to have that help. It will be easier at the end if you taper
My husband is all for the tapering. He was taking 20 oxys a day at one point and tapered off of them so he's convinced i can do it too. He wants to take them from me and give me a certain number a day. Go down 1 pill every week. The withdrawals are so bad for me, as I'm sure they are from everyone else, but I do have Crohns disease and already have severe diharrea and all that fun stuff so it would literally throw me in a horrible flare and stress my body out too much. its so hard for me because I do have a chronic illness and am in chronic pain every day. I'm probably just making excuses for myself, but I just don't think I can go cold turkey. I also just opened my own business, I'm a hairstylist who is booked out 2 months in advance. I'd have to take off work, theres just no way. My business would fail.
Hi Chelsh. I was literally on exactly what you are on now, and about 12 to sometimes 15 a day, too. Listen, forget subs, that will prolong your misery. You can cold turkey. It sux but it's very doable.
Most of us cannot taper, too tempting. Can you cut all your sources? What do you have left? Can you flush the rest? If so, you can start and stop this merry go round.
Let us know where you are: we are here:)
hi chelsh i tapered but i was on a huge amount of pills for a long time. you can cold turkey and be successful. like the others said above you will feel rotten in the beginning but then you will start feeling better little by little. i have been clean for almost a year and it feels really really good. you can totally do this! its worth it.
If you can't taper, which a lot of us couldn't,I quit oxycodone cold turkey last November. And it sounds like what you probably are going to have to do as well. I wouldn't recommend subs. They are a 100 times worse trying to come off of. Read some of the sub stories on this forum. You can quit c/t. It won't kill you,but it is uncomfortable for a week or so. You will have insomnia, diarrhea, loss of appetite, restless legs, lack of energy and very emotional. If you decide to quit, stay close to this forum and we can help you with recommendations for each individial symptom you get. We have all been where you are. Scared, and alone. You don't have to live like this,it can get better!!
Hi & Welcome to our Forum.
If you can stick with this post for awhile others will chime in.
Most of us could not taper so we had to just stop. We can not give Taper advice on this site, as this is for your Dr to discuss with you. I can say that one of the best ways to taper is to hand them to your Hub and have him hand them out to you. I know if they are in my hands I would just get so out of control. The bad thing is that we do build up a Tolerance fast. We have Receptors all over the Brain & Body and they become full. These type of meds also whack out all the Brain Chems and that is the part that some can not take. Your real feeling will come back. We sure can give you some tips on what natural things we used to go through detox. You still will have them w/ds but not as long and intense if you do a nice slow taper. Just give your Brain & Body time to adjust to each drop. I personally would not go down the Sub route, but we do have many that did. The subs are way stronger and real synthetic, so they are a bit harder to detox out. Just make sure you drink tons of water to help rid the toxins. Then Eat Healthy and take some good vit/min on the way. We have to replenish back what we have lost during our using. You will find some vit/min that will help ease the anxiety and sleep a bit and some for that low/no motivation stage.
If you do decide to go on the Subs make sure it is under a Drs maintenance program. This way you will be out hitting those meetings and learning so much more about Addiction. The detox is the easy part (yes uncomfortable) but the work starts when we have to really make changes to stay clean min by min and hour by hour. There is so much more info out here about Addiction in a more Scientific way and I have found it to be really helpful for the past 3 yrs. Besides here and my Aftercare.
Just keep checking your post as others will chime in & out. Right now it is late so I know many are sleeping if they are able too. I wish you the best and just keep talking to us in this post and we sure will share our own experiences and hope for a better future with you. I am so proud you took this First Step. This Step can save your life and sanity. So, Welcome again and stick around.
