I still don't think my point is understood however there are some understanding physicians left that have not let DEA totally dictate the care of their pts and I would advise to start looking as soon as possible, if in fact your Pcp has discharged you as a pt or is unwilling to rx your needed pain medication , however I would suggest that if the situation ever arises again ( needing additional/ different pain meds from another md/dentist) please notify your Pcp before filling. It is a pain ( no pun intended) however a necessary one. Hope you get relief soon. ; )
Ps VIC --- no worries ; )
If you were Honest with the dentist and he knew about the other scrip. I sure would go and talk to the Dr and ask to be tapered off the meds. I am sure he can at least do this or send you to one who can. Maybe the ins-co had seen that you were on them for a long time too. Many Company's and Drs and Pharmacist are cracking down. Your ins co obviously sees something that you are not aware of. I sure wish you the best and you should be able to get a taper plan done.Wish you the best.
Additionally...technically, by definition, taking the Percocet for the dental issues, which I assume was something other than why it's prescribed would actually constitute abuse of the prescription, which I'm sure your doc wouldn't be happy about. It should make more sense to him to have the dentist handle the pain resulting from that. If you don't mind my asking, what condition are you Rx'ed the Percocet for?
Is your doctor a pain management doctor, where you have a contract that you cannot get pain meds from anyone else under any circumstances? In that case, you may be held to that contract, although I still disagree. A medical professional cannot direct a patient to take a narcotic Rx'ed by someone else, FOR something else in order to treat a condition they are overseeing.
I still think asking your dentist to contact the doctor may be your best bet. That way the DDS can verify that you were not withholding the info, and that the small supply of Vicodin was appropriate.
Really hope you get it worked out!
and on the question why did i fill the vicidon?? im asking that to myself everyday...i was taking more of the percocets to try to help tooth so didnt want to run out of pain meds when tooth was in pain...i never had a tooth hurt so bad i couldnt even work for 2 days and face was swollen,...well im in a mess now cause im probably looked at as dr shopping hope to find an understanding dr
