Hi, I thought all the problems I was having was from weaning Valium. Down to 2mg now and anxiety is terrible. I got a Kenalog injection Nov 5th and have been feeling really funny since. Reading about this steroid a lot of the side effects are the same as Benzo w/d,, Anxiety, trouble sleeping, heart palps, numbness, etc. They say that the effects of 40 to 60mg can last for MONTHS. Great, that's just what I needed. I'm sure it has made my taper a lot harder than it needed to be.
I have done some research on this Doctor. He gave me a whopping 200mg injection of Kenalog-40 (an overdose I think). He had me pick up the Kenalog and bring it to him, he wrote the Rx. The Pharmacist said he never heard of anyone getting the whole bottle and couldn't see how it would ever be necessary. I have only seen him a few times. Now I find that he lost his surgical privileges at both hospitals here and the State of Michigan found him to be of "Low Moral Character". He paid big fines in 2010 and again in 2012. Yes, he has had 2 cases against him. I asked my cardiologist and neurolgist about kenalog and they said it was ok to get an injection, so I did. Nobody knew it was going to be the whole bottle. Now I don't know what to do. I think the worst is passed but I am in rough shape. I have been blaming Valium for all this and now I know that shot has magnified my w/d symptoms. I'm a basket case. I am just learning all this and still in shock.
has anyone here ever had a Kenalog injection? How did it make you feel? How long did it last? I didn't know he was going to inject the whole bottle all at once. It says on the empty box Kenalog-40 40MG/ML INJECT 1ML(CC) ONCE A MONTH QTY 5 (It's in Caps on the box). It was in a 5 dose bottle,, all at once!! That shot would have been rough even if I wasn't tapering. The Dr that is taking me off Valium is a pr!^k, my family Doc of 25 years that put me on Valium and Soma is gone, I'm screwed. There is no decent medical care around here. They are all about the $$ and try to see how fast they can get you in and out, then they say they spent 20 minutes with you and they really only spent 3-5 minutes on you.
Can anybody shed any light on this. My brain fog is so bad not thinking straight. I am at a loss and don't know where to turn. I don't have a family Doctor. Any advice would really be appreciated
