OD Kenalog injection tapering Valium

Hi, I thought all the problems I was having was from weaning Valium. Down to 2mg now and anxiety is terrible. I got a Kenalog injection Nov 5th and have been feeling really funny since. Reading about this steroid a lot of the side effects are the same as Benzo w/d,,  Anxiety, trouble sleeping, heart palps, numbness, etc. They say that the effects of 40 to 60mg can last for MONTHS. Great, that's just what I needed. I'm sure it has made my taper a lot harder than it needed to be.

I have done some research on this Doctor. He gave me a whopping 200mg injection of Kenalog-40 (an overdose I think). He had me pick up the Kenalog and bring it to him, he wrote the Rx. The Pharmacist said he never heard of anyone getting the whole bottle and couldn't see how it would ever be necessary. I have only seen him a few times. Now I find that he lost his surgical privileges at both hospitals here and the State of Michigan found him to be of "Low Moral Character". He paid big fines in 2010 and again in 2012. Yes, he has had 2 cases against him. I asked my cardiologist and neurolgist about kenalog and they said it was ok to get an injection, so I did. Nobody knew it was going to be the whole bottle. Now I don't know what to do. I think the worst is passed but I am in rough shape. I have been blaming Valium for all this and now I know that shot has magnified my w/d symptoms. I'm a basket case. I am just learning all this and still in shock.

has anyone here ever had a Kenalog injection? How did it make you feel? How long did it last? I didn't know he was going to inject the whole bottle all at once. It says on the empty box Kenalog-40 40MG/ML   INJECT 1ML(CC) ONCE A MONTH   QTY 5  (It's in Caps on the box). It was in a 5 dose bottle,, all at once!! That shot would have been rough even if I wasn't tapering. The Dr that is taking me off Valium is a pr!^k, my family Doc of 25 years that put me on Valium and Soma is gone, I'm screwed. There is no decent medical care around here. They are all about the $$ and try to see how fast they can get you in and out, then they say they spent 20 minutes with you and they really only spent 3-5 minutes on you.

Can anybody shed any light on this. My brain fog is so bad not thinking straight. I am at a loss and don't know where to turn. I don't have a family Doctor. Any advice would really be appreciated

Thank You for responding.

Yes Sarah, I'm going to see the Doctor with "Low Moral Character" Monday. I will be looking at him differently now that I know about his problems. Feeling a bit better now. Mornings are the worst. Maybe it is the Valium doing a lot of it. The symptoms list hypochondria for valium tapering or c/t. I should know soon since I'm actually a little under 2mg/day now. It has been one hell of a ride. One more cut and the next one after that will be ZERO Valium

Lilly, it makes me feel ashamed to gripe after what you have been through. Makes my Valium taper look like a walk in the park. You are really a strong person, you kicked Valium, Methadone and OxyContin  ALL IN THE SAME MONTH???!! WOW!! That's amazing. When were you diagnosed? It makes me so sad in my heart to hear that. As I think you know I am very familiar with MS. I have a brother and a sister and we all have unusual problems, my Mother was sick for so long. Like you, she put on a smile and carried on for 40 years with it, diagnosed at 32. She got the Interferon which helped a lot and was on Paxil, not sure about all the meds she took. God Bless You. You are in my prayers. Stay in touch, you can message me any time you feel the need to let off some steam or someone to listen. You hang in there and thanks!

GB you both and Thank You again

Barry

So sorry that happened. Call another doctor and tell them what happened. If that doesn't help try poison control in your area. If that doctor overdosed you they should be able to direct you. I have had massive doses of IV solumederal which is a powerful steroid they give me for my MS. It has horrible side affects such as weight gain, insomnia , anxiety diabetes ect... I did not taper my Valium, I stopped cold turkey but stayed in HOSP 4 days cause it almost killed me. I also stopped methadone and OxyContin the same month. This is a killer journey but I have talked with others who have survived this and it's worth it. Hang in there.
