I did the same thing took trams when I stopped methadone, not a good plan! Been off the methadone for 22 days and off the trams for 6 days still not feeling well. You're just prolonging the inevitible you're going to have to go through the withdrawals at some point. Good Luck and God Bless.
HI ....The bottom line is you cant kick a narcotic with a narcotic your only going to switch addictions comming off methadone is ruff and I understand why your looking for an ezer softer way of doing it but tram is only going to make a nother problem for you you need to quit putting pills into your body and let the withdrawal process begin with methadone it can be 90 days b/4you feel well again the only experence I have with tram is what I have read hear and from trusted friends on this site.....its nasty to come off off so I wouldent use it how many days are you foff the methadone and what dose did you jump at.....I will check back tomorrow it 2am here I work nights but this will all factor into how long your going to feel like hell but in the end it is so so worth it to be free from the stuff let me know and I can help you farther.......Gnarly
I can only tell you my experience with tramadol and methadone.I took tramadol for withdrawal pain to get off methadone.IT did me more harm than good.I got alot of my information about this problem right here on this site. It can make the withdrawal last twice as long and add more pain. You will only have to go through withdrawal from the trams and when you want off the trams its possible you won't be done with withdrawal from the methadone . there is a section on this site just for tramadol that could help. Also if you post a new question about your methadone problem others will answer that know alot more than I do.With more info you won't have to go through what I am still going through from the exact same situation. The suffering I have been through from handling this the wrong way well I won't give details but its something I would not wish on anyone. All the info you can get will help you Post so people will know you still need help.Don't get turned off by just a few replies it just means the right people did'nt see your question (post) yet You will be ok its just going to take time good luck
Is your back healed now? Is there some reason you can't go back to the original doctor?
Tramadol is an opiate or contains an opiate along with an antidepressant. It probably DOES help a little and that's why...
No one here can tell you how long you'll feel badly. It's not that cut and dried. Detox is painful. My BEST guess would be about as long as it took to detox from the Percocet times two.
Right now you're not clean from anything. You've got Tramadol on board. It's anyone's guess right now...and I'm sorry I can't be of more help here...
Tell us what it is you are ultimately trying to accomplish...and we'll go from there....
Dee: I dont know anything at all (personally) about tramedol or methadone. I just wanted to say to you (in the interim until someone more knowlegeable than me) that I'm pretty sure in reading over these posts that anything addictive, which of course methadone is, is just trading one devil for another. However, many on this forum are advocates of tapering - just keep reading. If nothing else it will distract you, Also, I have been told (I just started here yesterday - so I am no authority on anything except becoming a pill pig) ... anyway, I have been told that often any meds for pain can also eventually or maybe even initially or soon cause pain in and of themselves. Again, my real purpose in posting this is to let you know we are all here at one time or another and you are not alone - just keep checking back - someone very wise will come along and give you more authoratative answers. For now, hugs and prayers from Fallen
