Over confidence

Well second day out of detox. I don't know why my story seems to be so different than other peoples. I have no cravings at all no desire to ever take another pain Med of any kind, 4 weeks free after 18 years of abuse. The withdrawals were so bad from me jumping off the methadone, I'm pretty sure that's why I know I will never use again.
Now that all the crap they gave me at detox is leaving my system, my BP and stress level is off the charts. I don't think I'm depressed, I don't know wtf is wrong. I'm an emotional wreck for the first time in my life. I refuse to believe it is still from the methadone, although my fiancée ie convinced that it is.
I'm scared to go to the doctor because I know he will put me on Valium or Xanax or chlodipin.....something for me to become dependent upon.
Anyways I guess my question would be, has the wds Been so bad that it has affected my mentality to the point where I am gonna have to be medicated for the rest of my life?

    Thanks you guys

I felt a lot of ups and downs the first 90 days also. The emotional phases are getting further and further apart. I feel myself gaining more stability and control every day. For those of us who used for many years, I think a lot of mental issues that haven't been fully embraced return for a chance to handle them in a healthy way for the first time. 12 step meetings, counseling, or whatever that helps you rebuild coping skills and healthy moral character is so useful and healing. I felt super confident after the initial detox. Now I just appreciate the good days and soul search on the bad. It gets easier and more rewarding. Keep up the fight and build support anywhere you can. Keep us posted.

i had that same fear for at least the first 90 days.  I feel so much more stable now, but it did take some time.  And it took experience.  Just relearning how to do everything sober, and learning how to manage emotions and stress without drugs.  Because life is mainly a routine, I got through most of the usual stuff right away, just by going through the motions.  And each day that passes, I grow a little bit more confident in my ability to continue to live without anything, especially when those unexpected things happen- death in family, job problems, ect show up. Medication served it's purpose for me in the beginning, but I feel much better being off everything now.  You are doing great, keep moving forward:)
