Oxy addiction

Has anyone gone through the withdrawels of Oxy's? I was perscribed them by my doctor and just recently (4 days) been off of them. Wondering how long the withdrawels will last and what to expect.

Sounds like your in the same jam as me. I kept running short too..In about three days it should turn slightly to the better based on my experience last month. I'm out again but I had a taper plan to switch back to hydrocodone. Its still rough though..I see my surgeon Thursday and what you express is the very same thing I'm concerned with..Post-op meds for a ruptured disk I need repaired for the second time. This I am going to discuss with the surgeon though. What alternatives there are to oxy because I am sick of that roller coaster. I don't what to get caught up in that ever again. Btw, I'm 5 days out but do have some lortab I'm trying to use a sparingly as possible..Just keep counting days. I know I don't want anymore of them....

Sorry for not giving to much info. I am new to sharing this stuff and I guess I am a bit afraid. Yes, I have been an addict of some sort since I was 19, starting with smoking weed. From then it has gone to a few other things. About three years ago I pretty much stopped everything except for smoking pot once every couple of months since moving out to a small town. I have severe arthritis and deteriation of my left jaw bone. and started seeing a doctor for it about a year ago when it just got to be to much to bear. Started out taking vicoden then was moved to Oxy's a couple of months ago. I had tried them a few years ago so knew how they would make me feel. I decided to stop taking them when i saw myself going down that path again. In a month I will be having open jaw surgery to fix the problem and am concerned about starting to take pain meds agian.

Hi welcome. R u talkn about oxycontin or oxycodone?  What is you prescribed ammt?  What was your patTern for taking them? (all at 1 time r spread out). Snorting?  All these things are important. I have detoxed from both. Oxycontin ws worse for me cuz I snorted them. Let us no what your plans are n we will help you!

So you were taking double the dose each day? Look in the top right of this page under health pages. In there is the thomas recipe and amino acid protocal which can help a lil. I have used melatonin to help with sleep and it worked for me, it can be picked up at most pharmacies. Hot baths help too. Have you ever had a problem with addiction before? Most of us here are addicts. Hang in there, the worst should almost be over:)

My doctor perscribed 80mg a day giving me 120 pills to last a month. I would find that I was out of them in 2 weeks instead. I can't even say how many I took at a time because I always had them.

how long have you been taking them?  How many per day?  That will help others answer your question.  Did you take them as prescribed?

Welcome to the forum. How long were you taking them and how much per day? I am guessing the worst of the physical w/d's will be over in a day or 2. Have you ever went through w/d's before?
