Oxy withdrawals

Used 10 mg CR twice a day for 2 months following knee surgery - total replacement. I was not aware stopping even this low a dose would cause me problems, but it has. It has been 24 hrs since my final dose, I could not sleep last night and am now suffering through horrible hot/cold chills and feeling awful in general. Absolutely no appetite - even for water.
Any suggestions on how long this will last?

Any suggestions on how to make this period of withdrawal more tolerable?

I am a 60 year old woman for pete's sake!!

Drs office of no help to me.  Thanks to whoever can help.

Thank you for your feed back, I know my situation is minor compared to most others on this forum, but I was just unprepared for feeling so awful.
I'll drink lots of water as you suggest. Any help to get some sleep tonight? I've read on thsi forum that benedryl or a glass of wine might help - what do you think?

It's normal to feel discomfort when stopping any amount of narcotic.  Why didn't your doctor taper you off of them?  That's standard protocol for a narcotic like oxycontin.  I know you said they're of no help to you, but you should call them and tell them what you're going through - you shouldn't have to do this.  But if that doesn't work and they still won't help you, you need to drink lots of water, take hot showers for the chills, immodium for intestinal issues, vitamins/amino acids are also helpful. (check the health pages for specifics) Dehydration, caffeine and nicotine can increase wds, so try to stay away from stimulants. Since you were on such a low dosage, you should feel better within 3-5 days.  If you don't, or if the withdrawals are really unbearable - you should absolutely call your doctor!!!
