Oxycodone HCL 30 mg

Last weekend went to detox for Oxycodone HcL 60 mg (not extended release) a day for 2 years.  (doctor prescribed).  Never on street drugs or had a problem with any other prescription med.  Could not quit this on my own, and it started to make me sick.  Detox went well.  However, first two days I felt sluggish.  Then tried one/half dose of suboxone per doctor, and that was a nightmare.  My question is how long after you detox from Oxycdone HcL 60 mg per day, 2 years, do you feel "normal" again.  Was taking this for pain for legit disease.  Hard to function now because it's out of my system.  Does anyone know?

Thank you vicki.  Actually symptoms first started back in April and between April and August I lost 15 pounds.  I thought it was from stress.  I think that's why they became too strong.  I went from 130lbs to 115lbs.  Will definitely eat something tonight (or will try I'll say).  Thanks again for all your encouragement.  My ex-husband and my husband died within 2 months of each other last year, so I am basically on my own, except for elderly parents and supportive sister-in-law.  It helps so much to talk it out!

Wow!  All that and two a day?  You must be really sensitive to it!  I'm so sorry...

Yes,just stay away. It may have just been way too strong for you. After some time, you may find that OTC's work  for you.

Stay strong and eat something!

I have had fibromyagia, chronic fatige, and silicone toxicity for years.  I was on Ultram for 4 years and doing good with it, but the pain was worse and the oxy worked better.  Got off the Ultram with no problems.  Didn't know that oxy's turn on you in the end.  Also didn't know the damage they do to you.  Would rather have avoided that route.  But i'm not looking back, just looking forward.  If you meant how was I getting sick from the oxy's in the end I had every side effect immaginable.  I couldn't eat, lost 15 pounds, at times when I took it in the end I got dizzy.  This has been going on since the second week of August.  The doctor who prescribed them kept saying try this and try that, take them all different ways --that was enough to knock me off the roof.   Then I just said this isn't worth it anymore.  I can't be wondering how I am going to feel tomorrow.  Got some support from family and friends and just started calling all asking who could get me off the quickest.  So I am staying positive, like I said.  Now my thinking is instead of how can a medicine help me, how could it possibly hurt me?  I should have never been on the oxy's that long.  Not that it makes it any better, but at least it was only 2 a day.  And that was the only thing I was on.  The less the better.

Yes,I'm sure the oxy is gone now. It's just going to take a week or so to feel better...
It will help if you get a goodnight's sleep. Work on that. Sleep is your best friend now and may be hard to come by.

In what way were you sick prior to detox?

Actually didn't sleep much at all last two nights.  It didn't occur to me that it might be the methadone messing me up.  However, the detox hospital said to go to phychiatrist, so he put me on suboxone.  Took 4 mg dose wed at 5:30 p.m. and then at 8:30 a.m. yesterday went to take the other half 4 mg dose as he told me to, but i threw it up right away.  You are definitely right, suboxone was not for me.  The pharamacist told me that last night after I called her complaining about my symptoms.  I am completely detoxed off the oxy.  Last oxy I had was a week ago today.  The detox hosptial last gave me methodone on Monday at 10 a.m.  I wish I had not taken the suboxone.  It messed me up.  According to the detox hospital, they said that wouldn't mess up my detox.  Hopefully they are right.  The ER hosptial doctor gave me atavan (benzo) which is like klonopin.  That calmed my anxiety down.  I hope the suboxone is out of my system.  I do hope I get a decent nights sleep tonight.  Leg's aren't restless, just achy. Plain old tylenol will have to do. By the way, I am not going back to the doctor who gave me the suboxone.  That is all I have had this week.  Didn't know anything about methodone or how long it's in your system.  Before I got so sick with the oxy, I didn't bother to check anything.  Thought I did enough research on the suboxone, but once again I missed something.  Praying for a better tomorrow but staying positive.  I'd have to say this is the first day I felt positive.  Maybe it's because I found others to relate to.  Thank you!!

Methadone has a long half life so you're still getting that out of your system.  The Sub was not the thing for you,in my opinion...

Really drink as much as you can. Are you sleeping?  Are your legs restless?

I wish that I could help you.
It sounds to me as if you need a good Dr. I don't think you are detoxed at all. Can you call the Dr. who started you in this last Monday?

Hang on, someone will be on here in a little bit with a good answer for you.

Thank you, thank you.  I thought I was losing my mind.  I never saw this website before, but thank God it came at just the right time.  Glad I got the oxy's out of my system, but my 10 year old son needs a mom who can have energy naturally.  I can't wait until this period is over, but at least I took the first step.  Thanks for your tips--will try your advice.  Have a good weekend and thank you so much.  Support is what I need the most and unless you've gone through it, you don't know what it feels like.

Okay...you'll be okay. It's going to take some time. You've had quite few different drugs this week so that doesn't help!

Be patient and just take it easy over the weekend. Try some mild exercise like walking, chores at home etc...just gets the blood moving and helps your brain to recover.
Exercise really helps, trust me. Next, force fluids. You need to be well hydrated. Take Pepto for your tummy.  Take a good mult vitamin with extra C.

Anxiety is common. Try deep breathing exercises. All of your symptoms are normal and physical. It's not in your head at this time!  Try to treat each symptom as it appears.
If you have questions, just post to us. There's a lot of support here. You came to the right place!

Detoxed last friday, saturday, sunday, monday with methodone in a hosptial.  They said I'd feel good as new on Tuesday.  I didn't.  Told me it was in my head that I couldn't eat and had dry heaves.  Told me to go to phychiatrist.  Wed went to phychiatrist.  He gives me suboxone.  Took 1/2 8 mg (4 mg) wed at 5:30 p.m.  Took 1/2 dose (4 mg) at 8:30 a.m. yesterday.  Threw it up.  Did not take any since.  Messed me up.  Not looking to get on anything again, just thought it would take the sluggishness away and as their ad says, make me "normal" again.  Threw the oxy's away.  Ended up in the ER this a.m. because of heart palpatations. They think it's anxiety from coming off oxys. Not doing the suboxone thing. Gave them to ER doctor.  He said I had a bad reaction to it. Think it (the suboxone) is pretty much out of my system by now.  Just want to be my old self before the oxy's.  Used to have a lot of natural energy before oxy's slowly stole it away.  Was on them for fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, etc from doctor.  Help if you can, it would be appreciated!

Thank you to you both.  The first two days I was home from detox, (tues and wed I was dry heaving and sluggish.  Now I wonder if it was the meth they detoxed me with.  I guess it will just take time.  Just don't have energy (oxy was great for that and for getting rid of the pain) and can't eat (but I couldn't eat towards the end on oxy either).  Not depressed, just don't have energy.  Lot of stomach issues.  Thank you for your encouragement.  This website has been very uplifting to know others have gone through some stuff too.

Hi & Welcome,

Usually it takes about 5 to 7 days for the physical withdrawal to subside. There are otc supplements you can take and if you go to the top right of this page you will see the health pages. In there are lists of supplements that may help you through this period.

Let us know what your exact symptoms are and we may be able to recommend some home remedies.
