17 days off Subutex...

I'm a newbie of sorts and just wanted to share in hopes others may be in the same boat as me or perhaps can offer some advice. I was in OxyContin from 2000-2004, then began suboxone as it was the "wonder drug" to help you stay clean. Well I stayed on suboxone/subutex until 17 days ago. I jumped off at 8mg and I honestly haven't felt too bad, except for the whole mental challenge it brings. I'm not sure when my mood will stabilize but it can't happen soon enough. I just feel down in general and fatigued. I'm thrilled to be off of subutex though. Are there any supplements I could take to help this? I am currently taking a multivitamin, msm, and my iron(I'm anemic). Thank you!

Omega fatty acids are primarily what our brain is made of, other than water, so a good daily dose of fish or flax oil every day is helpful. They have found positive results with addiction recovery, autism, bipolar, adhd, and schizophrenia from a good supply of Omegas. Amino acids, like l-tyrosine, really help also. Be aware if any supplement is causing anxiety though. I find adding one thing at a time helps me check what they are doing for me. SAMe is another precursor to amines I really like for a calming effect that allows me to still have energy. B vitamins, electrolytes, vitamins, those are the new ways to change how you feel. Take care of the body and the body will take care of you. The new habits forming should include a good diet and exercise, work and play, social and alone time. It's all trying to balance itself out without drugs, the see saw just has to topple awhile to find it's fulcrum. "Do what the rabbit said, feed your head." With good and natural whole foods.

I should probably add to what I said and say that after opiate use the guts can be pretty wrecked.  We've got kg's worth of bacteria in there and half of your feel good chemicals come from that area.

I've got a particular condition, a real nasty Candida infestation, but anyone suffering from anything at all to do with the guts would benefit from drinking broths daily.  You can use the broth to cook your grains, or make stir frys/curries whatever, just to mix it up.

Hey, I've been eating meat broths made from boiling bones to repair my guts due to a long standing medical condition.  I'm just mentioning it because holy heck after only a few days of eating them daily the difference in my energy levels is just amazing.  I haven't felt anything near a 30 year old for years, so I thought I better pass on the info.  Probably be useful to you to considering you're anaemic.  We're meant to be eating that part of the animal but because of our gluttonous modern eating habits we don't use every last bit of the beast anymore and hence miss out on important nutrients we'd otherwise be usually getting in a natural diet.

I've heard about the Thomas Recipe, I may give it a shot since you have been going through pretty much the same thing as myself, thanks for the suggestion. I've heard others speak about it but wasn't sure if it would help with a sub detox. Drinking water as we speak! Lol ty again for everything. :)

Congrats! Im happy to hear you are not feeling too bad. I am doing The Thomas recipe, you can look it up on this site, and it supposed to help with your symptoms. I have been doing it for about a week, but its hard to tell because I am sick with Sinus/chest yuckiness. When you read about it , it does make sense, Ive also heard really good things about sublingual b12. I hope that helps, and I feel best when I drink lots of water. and eat, which has been hard but you have to.Hope that helped a little. xx C.

Thank you so much for your kind words and response. I am most definitely going to try that type of iron because right now I'm taking ferrous sulfate and I don't think it's time released. I'm also going to buy some trail mix and such since that could possibly boost my energy. Thank you for the suggestions. I appreciate it so much. :)

Hello there, Congratulations on your clean time, this is great to hear : )
Just make sure your eating lots of salmon, tuna, fresh fish, vegies and fruit, things like trail mix are great, especially the walnuts and almonds for their omega benefits. Any sort of seed is brilliant like flax seed and pumpkin seeds.
Multi-vit is a great start, im anemic too and also take an iron supp, Fefol with Folate, this is an extended release and the folate helps the body to convert more of the iron than standard iron supps.
Also anything with Beta-Carotene and antioxidants are fantastic for our body.
Others will give you more supp advice.
I cant believe you jumped at 8mg and dont feel too bad, it certainly just goes to show, how diff we all are.
Hopefully, your energy will return very soon, as long as your exercising and eating a healthy diet, thats all you can do to push things.
Good luck : )
