I was addicted to oxycontin too. I had a long hard struggle getting off those pills. I tried suboxone for a week and heavily researched that medicine and didnt want a replacement. My personal choice. It was designed for people who cant stop the cycle of addiction. The ones that put themselves in harms way. Or need time to stop depending on the oxy. Its supposed to help even out your life. While you work on the problem. It has its place in recovery. But you need to ask yourself whats right for you.

Theres no easy way to get around withdrawls. Theres no majic pill that can make our addiction disappear. Its hard work. Youve got to really want to break the cycle.

Yes, it will work, because it's just trading a pill for another pill.  You will be much better off by talking to a doctor about some safer medicine that won't be trading one addiction for another.  That's all it does!  Honestly, if you only took it for a week, it probably wouldn't hurt you, but for that you'll need to see a doctor or go to a clinic, and clinics usually put you on it for maintenance......not a few days.  If you can't handle the WD doing it cold turkey, your best and safest bet is to talk to a doctor (which you will have to do anyway) and get some meds to take at home for a week or so.

Have you looked into the Thomas Recipe in the health pages on here?  You can also Google it, and read it.  It's got a lot of info about OTC meds that help some of the symptoms.  I didn't believe in it and didn't have much hope for anything helping, but it made a difference with me.  I didn't use everything on it, but I did use a lot of stuff that I just bought at Wal Mart.  And, from that, I've been clean since March 2010.

If I can do it, so can you! If it were me right now again, I would NOT do Methadone or Suboxone.  NO WAY!!
