How long before I can Sleep?

I am on Day 9 from quitting Vicodin..I had been taking for over 2 years.... Although i did have surgery in Oct, I justified taking at the same pace as before, the only difference was after the surgery, I had no reason to take them.  I spoke with my Dr. about gettin off, he suggested I reuce by 25% every 5 days.  I did reduce for 3 or 4 days but much quicker. I then found this site and on day 3 i read a post and the person made the point if you really want to stop get rid of all you pills..I believe they said flush them down the toilet.  I was felling soooooooo bad I actually got my bottle counted out 48 7.5 vic's, I had to decide to open the cap take a couple which i am sure would have felt GREAT or make the decision to get rid of them.   At one point I put them back in my travel bag... Then I kept reading..I don;'t know how i found the strength but about 5 minutes later I got up grabbed the bottle went to the bathroom and FLUSHED them all............Round 1 to me.

I suffered so much for the next 4 days with the worst possible anxiety even fear at some points...and quite honestly some very dark thoughts.  When i reached day 7 i finally started to feel phsically better. (thank god).  The biggest problem I have now is no signifigant sleep.  from 9PM until 6AM  i can only nap a few hours.  Anybody any ideas on when this will get better?

Wow, way to go on getting rid of them, that takes so much willpower. Congrats on 9 days now, you are through the worst. Sleep seems to be one of the last things to come. Melatonin worked great for me, knocked me out, but there are many sleep aids out there than may help. Hang in there, your doing great. Time for round 2, ding ding ding.

you can also try 5htp and L-theanine they are also all natural and can be purchased at GNC or Wal-Mart,any drug store like walgreens or cvs

Sleep or lack there of,is usually one of the symptoms that tends to linger the longest.Get plenty of exercise during the day,and you can try some melatonin.You can get it at GNC and it is perfectly safe.All the best...Kim
