Pain Doc appointment

Ok, so i was to have an appointment back in November which I cancelled because I did not feel pain and did not feel 'strong' enough to go there and I was afraid I'd get another rx for vicodins.
however...for the past week my thumb (which i get a shot of steroid in about twice a year) is hurting like he!! I can't even squeeze the shampoo bottle! Soooo...I just called and made an appointment to go in on Friday morning to see what I can do about my thumb...maybe get a shot. And my finger on my other hand is hurting very much also...It may be some kind of tendonitis or carpel tunnel issues...not sure.

I feel strong...today...although, I have to admit ... or tell on myself...that i'm already thinking that its ok to take just one or two after the shot...but, really??? do i need that? If I'm really honest with myself I know that after the shot even vicodin does not help...what helps is ice and then heat. I KNOW this...I've done it. (and took the vic to get high, dah!)

I need this board/forum to keep me honest. I will let you all know what is going on with me thru-out the week. I am very grateful to be clean and I don't want to mess that up...I also know that my little pink cloud could float me right into popping a pill agian. It is now that i need to be most careful.

yeah...i'm giving a kidney away in Feb....worried about the pain pills i'll get then too. already told the surgeon of my issue, he said he could put me on Ultram instead...hahahahahaha.

i think i'll go without pain meds. eff it. I'll survive.

Great job on being honest with your doc.  Glad your husband was there with you and is so supportive!!  Hopefully your finger and thumb feels better!!!  Your donating a kidney??  That is fantastic!!              sara

had the appointment today...it went well. My man came along...as we were waiting for the Dr. I said "i feel like an idiot...cuz i need you here to babysit me" and he said, "nah, feel confident that you have someone who loves you enough to support you through the tough times"...

I told the doc that she needs to put in my file no vic or perc for me cuz I abuse them! she just gave me a look of appreciation and nodded her head. :)

it went well. I got shots in my right thumb and left index finger...they still hurt but from what i remember it may take a day or two for the meds to work. I also cannot take any anti-inflammatories due to donating a kidney in a couple months...ugh. so, it's ice today...and heat tomorrow (after grooming dogs!) lol. i've got too busy of a life at times...I'm so glad to be going on vacation in a few days!

My appointment is tomorrow! I feel good. I know my man is coming with me and I know that after that appointment I am going to feel so much better.

and tonight I'll fall asleep without rehearsing in my head over and over again, what I'm going to say to the Dr. to get him to write me a refill!!! wahoo.

and my vacation begins in 5.5 days! wa-freekin-hooooooo


omg...I'm going on vacation CLEAN! egads. this is gonna be awesomistic!

You guys are freekin awesome...can't i just put you in my pocket and take you all? LOL.

My man will go with me...he doesn't completely understand...as he is not and never was addicted to anything. But, because I asked him to go with me to 'keep me honest' and he wants to support me, he will go with me. and just him being there will help tremendously...I'll have to tell on myself...cuz he'll be sitting right there!

MrClean...believe me..I'm nervous about going and thats why I'm here telling...and that's why i'm dragging him with me...but I cannot do my jobs properly with my hands hurting as badly as they do...I need to do something..and I KNOW that little bit of steroid he shoots into my thumb and finger work...they work awesome and for months...I don't need no stinkin 'pain pills'...they only CAUSE PAIN...
I need new hands :(

Remember the reasons that you quit, and know what triggers a relapse.  I will not see a doctor right now for fear that he would prescribe something for me.  Not interested but also don't trust myself with barely a month clean....we will prop you up!
