Percocet addiction

Hi,

I have been back and forth to the docs for about 3 months now, tryin to figure out what was wrong.  I had pain going from my lower back to the bottom of my foot.  Each time giving me a different pain med & physical therapy.  Finally the gave me an MRI and I had a degenerative herniated disc that ws sitting right on my nerve.  no wonder I was in so much pain.  The pain was horrible.  I was up to taking 6-8 percocets a day + motrin for about a month.  I just had surgery on Thursday to remove part of the disc. It is now Monday and my back is feeling so much better, and no more pain in my leg.  I wanted to stop taking the Percocet.  I took it  the day I came home from surgery and then just stopped cold turkey.  I am feeling like I have the flu, sweating, achy.  I am tossing and turning all night and can't get comfortable.  Am I going thru withdrawls or is this from the anestesia?  If it is withdrawls, does anyone know how long it will last?

Yes, you are in w.d 6-8 pills a day? Absolutely. But the good news is, you are already 4 days in. SO you have about another few days maybe less of physical symptoms and the rest just take it day by day. Good luck and congrats on your will to go c.t. Not many can pull it off successfully....

Omg, doctors arent always right. If this is withdrawls and u start taking  percocets again when u stop u will go thru this again. If you are not in pain please dont take anymore.  At least give it a day or two, if ..u dont feel better, then ok, but if this is withdrawls (which u described to a t) you really will be better by then.  Please if u are not in pain  dont take anymore!

I think you are experiencing withdrawl symptoms. My back is messed up kind of the same. After you are completely healed it would be a good idea to go through pysical therapy again. hah and this time they will know exactly what they are treating. it helped me to learn new ways to do things that will not aggrevate my injury. like a certain way to work out, drive, sit, ect....  it is important to keep your core in good shape from now on.

I just called my doc and let her know what my symptoms were.  She told me that I was not going through WD.  That I was just feeling a different kind of pain than i was used too.  ( Not the intense pain )  She suggested that I take Tylenol during the day and then take a percocet at night to help me sleep without being uncomfortable.  What do you guys think?

Hi there, i'm sorry u went thru all that to now find urself with a new problem. Yes it def. sounds like withdrawals, So this should be ur 3rd day without anything right? Since u were on it for a short period of time, amonth, i would think you should start feeling better by tomorrow if not tonight maybe you'll sleep a little better.  For some reason the 3rd day is always the worst for me but after that its all dowhhill from there. If i could have stopped the way u did it would have saved me and my  family years of hurt and suffering.  You're Great! Wait this the am of your 4th day, you're almost done, usually for me anyways its 3 days of hell and another 2or 3 days of lightweight stuff that i can handle Hang in there it will be over soon!

Yup, it does sound like w/d. They can last 5-7 days, sometimes longer but usually by day 5 you start feeling better.

I am sorry to hear about your pain,  I too suffer from HERN/BULGING
discs.

Yes, you are mosy likely going through withdrawls,.  The good news is that
they should long last for a couple of days.  And the best news is that you are
off of the percs.  The longer you stay on them the harder the withdrawls.

Get plunty of fluids and some Immodium D for the runs, you can
check out the Thomas receipe on The Health pages.

That seems t o help alot of people.
