Physical changes after drugs?

I posted something like this a long time ago, but wanted to again.

There are so many advantages to getting off drugs, but one that is not talked about much is the positive changes to our health and appearance. In active use, I looked like death, felt like death and hated what my life had become for those 5 years on coke and other drugs. I just wanted to know if you have noticed any changes to your appearance after quitting? I was a bag of bones using coke, cheeks were sunk in, no color to my skin and my eyes had no life to them anymore.

Now that I have quit, I look so much better, put on weight, woo hoo and my skin dosen't look pale like it did. Quitting has made me so much healthier and it's nice to have someone say "you look good", not "you look like hell, what are you using"? lol. What are a couple positive physical changes that have happened to you since you quit?

My eyes are brighter, skin glows, hair is shiny..I get compliments on it all the time.  It is very long and I have been considering cutting it, not just trimming but chopping it into a bob or something.  There is a part of me that still "sees" years of my drug use in it.  I know it's ridiculous to think like this.  I am not afraid of hair drug testing or anything like that but when I heard that your hair is pretty much a map of your drug use..it made me look at it differently.  On the flip side I love how great it makes me feel when I get dressed up..see no drugs and a person has way too much time to think! :P

As far as my senses are concerned...what a HUGE difference.  I am with NorcoQueen on this one.  The female stuff works so much better...that alone is worth being clean! LOL

I also do not drink 5 gallons of water a day anymore..and therefore I am not spending my life on the toilet peeing.  What is up with drinking water and using anyway??  Maybe your bodies way of trying to get the crap out of your system!

Oh.. I forgot about getting back your sence of smell.. (after I went through the withdrawl sneezing fits) GOOD and BAD....  Love to smell the fresh air, flowers, trees, etc... HATE to smell the yucky smell stuff.. but at least I know I have my sences back.. SMELL and ALL!  
I just have to remember when to breath deep... and when to NOT!

My sense of smell is 10x better than when I was using, it's amazing how we heal with some clean time. During my use, my sense of smell was gone. Congrats on 18 days today right? Congrats to everyone, we look hot off dope, lol.

oh yeah and it is weird how much better i can smell things to some things stink worse and some things smell wonderful now that didnt before

when I first got clean I remember looking in the mirror outside at my hair.. It was a mess down past my waste dry and brittle.. I had it cut for the first time in 20 years.. it is now healthy although very straight lol and down to the middle of my back.. my skin had lost it's rich brown color and almost looked yellow I now have a perpetual tan :) my eyes are green and not red.. as far as hubby He has his smart a$$ wife back and seems very pleased most of the time lol

yup I am pretty sure I am now  a beauty queen lol! Perfect in every way!hahahahaha!

The same as all the above. Skin, hair and I am not so darn thirsty all the time!
Eating better, excersise, but the best is the mental part. The memories have come back of both good and bad and I can FEEL them!

I'm with norco I get compliments on how good my skin looks,And I love the fact my body can feel again.(and yes my husband likes that part the most as well)

this is giving me something to look forward to!!!! I am going to rehab in a couple of days and i have never been, so i know i will succeed! and i can't wait to get my skin color back!...I look Horrible

Like sara said above.. I have color in my skin....I have normal looking eyes... I don't look so gaunt...(sp?)  and my female parts and pieces have feeling once again.. (my husband likes that part the most!)

I am going to post about the same thing as i did last time!!  My skin is no longer the color of an elephant, my hair actually has a shine to it, my nails are not brittle and my eyes are now back in their sockets and no longer bloodshot. My skin has moisture in it now too so it doesnt look and feel like a lizard.     sara

i have only been completely clean for 17 days and i think already the biggest thing is i am eating regular again and have already gained some weight back because when i taking pills and drinking with them like a dummy and im sure im not the only one i wouldnt eat near as much because then the meds would not make me feel as good
