Please Confirm Duration

Could I get a little feedback on the duration of Suboxone withdrawal? I just read where someone said it has been 45 days and they are still not quite there. If this is the case, I plan to make an appointment with my shrink tomorrow so I can beat the livin' daylights out of him. He told me about 5 days. This is the man that prescribes Suboxone. I was addicted to opiods for 18 years. I might even be a good resource on hard core withdrawal. I have been through it more than two dozen times. I feel as I have been misinformed. I was told that when I dropped Suboxone, that I would be "uncomfortable for about 5 or 6 days". This is a verbatum quote from shrink. I am now in my fourth day, and was not prepared for feeling anywhere this bad. I continually focus on one truth for me. It is not as bad as my days of opiod withdrawal. Somebody! Give me some pearls of wisdom. I can suck it up and get prepared for weeks instead of days, but I am really disappointed in the info I received from a professional.

Hey there and welcome.  In the immortal words of a friend on here - "Welcome to the Suboxone Surprise Club" Suboxone withdrawal varies, but can be anywhere from 7 days to 2 weeks.  Doctor's not warning patients seems to be common.  My doctor also told me I would have 'little to no withdrawal' when quitting suboxone.  You seem pretty positive so just hang in there.  It will get better.  How long were you on sub?  What mg did you jump from?  I was on for over 2 1/2 years and stopped at 1mg. The worst of the physical for me lasted about 2 weeks and then better from there.  I wanted to strangle my doctor too... but.. in the end that wouldnt have helped at all and I just focused on me.. it does get better and life is good now.  Hang in there and good luck.

Hey there- I am on day 14 of no suboxone and I feel great!!! (FINALLY)- How long were you on it for? Much of the research I read say the longer you are on it- the worse and longer the withdrawals are.
Some things I noticed:
Day 4 and 5 were the worst- because these days were my extra restless and no energy days
Day 6- I felt great
Day 7- I felt miserable and weak again
Every day after day 7 has been good- Sleeping can still be an issue and sometimes I still have restlessness when trying to sleep  or I wake up in a clammy sweat.
You are so close to being done with this- KEEP AT IT!!
Good Luck to you!!!!

So sorry this seems to be a common problem. The doctors are misinformed.  I'm still on sub so I can only tell you from what I've read on this forum for 2 years. Sub withdrawals usually don't even start for 3 days because of the half life. I think it also depends at what mg you jump off on.  It seems 2 weeks of pretty bad stuff, then a few months of lack of energy.  I have read people getting off sub pretty easily if they do a very long slow taper. They get down to a crumb and start taking that crumb every other day then every third day etc.....

First of all let me welcome you to the forum and second of all I have no experience with sub but plenty of people on here do so hang in there,as for the doctor telling you that of course they would that is what they are told by the drug reps trying to sell there product, I think all dr.s should be given the drugs first and let them see how it is ! I bet there would be alot more understanding doctors out there!
