Please Nobody Hit me, Curse me out etc...

I have been on doctor prescribed Endocet 10mg oxycodone/325mg tylenol since 2005 for Rheumatoid Arthritis. I have not often taken any more than prescribed, (some days maybe 1 extra. but I have always had extra at end of month) I became pregnant and that was switched and slightly increased to up to 15mg of roxicodone every 4-6hrs. There was a misfill of my prescription. A doctor accidentally wrote it for Endocet. I tried to turn it in and get switched and was called an addict and then things went down from there as the doc told me she knew my type and how she was going to call every pharmacy and "black flag" me as well as find out how many doctors I was getting my fix from. Is there somewhere this could be reported? I was disrespected and could understand if I did not have a WHOLE BOTTLE I was trying to turn in.... Further more they did take the Endocet from me and of course refuse to write the correct rx. I am 7mos pregnant. and have not taken any oxycodone since monday3pm... Yet I am not nauseaous, shaking, sick or depressed. I just hurt. Has anyone else stopped this stuff suddenly and had no withdrawal symptoms?> The doc's solution to this is I must now be a drug dealer and selling them.... OMG>

No, nothing is left out. change of doctors, new doc wrote endocet, i didn't pay attention and filled it then said ****, that is not what I take and returned to the doctor with all tablets. Roxicodone is what I take because I have developed a sensitivity to tylenol. CPHT stands for Certified Pharmacy Technician. It was 2 doctors at the same practice. I was going to wean in 2 more months when I had one month to go and would be on bedrest anyhow. I have not had ANY withdrawal symptoms. That is what my question is about. I don't care about CT, not having narcotics, I don't feel a "buzz" from them and do not even comprehend why someone would take this drug to get "high". I am only weirded out to read all of these posts about people being really sick and jumpy and know I am fine. I just hurt like I have an axe sunk in my tailbone and 3rd degree burns on my right leg. Needless to say the previous obstetrician who I transferred from due to the drive and gas costs is taking me back but in NC we have a law that an office visit is req'd for narcotics and their first appt is the 21st. They have told me that if I need to I can come to their local hospital and they will re-write it. to re-post the question....I HAVE BEEN ON 40-60MG OF OXYCODONE A DAY AND NOT TAKEN ANY SINCE MONDAY AND AM HAVING ZERO NONE NOT EVEN ONE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOM. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS????

Has noone explained the medication to you? If you are in pain, get the endocet filled. It is just as good as the roxicet.

I didnt read the whole thread, but I am 36 weeks pregnant and on opiates as well, tapering down as directed by DR.

Stopping CT while pregnant is actually BETTER for the baby, as opposed to staying addicted throughout your pregnancy, then delivering, and have the baby withdrawal at that point.  However, many doctors will allow you to slowly alleviate the dose suring pregnancy rather than CT because it makes a far more comfortable pregnancy- a good doctor will actually care about your comfort.

My DR told me withdrawing while pregnancy will not harm the baby. There is no evidence to support this. However, there is substantial evidence supporting withdrawal in newborns, born to opiate addicts.  You may feel uncomfortable but rest assured, withdrawals will not hurt your baby. Trust me on this.

To you point about the script. I was supposed to get a script for 28 of the 10/650's last week, to last for 7 days. My DR is assisting me in tapering.  Well, the script was accidentally written for the 5/500's.  This was a problem. I called the DR, they said they would call in another 5/500 script to make it an even 10 mg dosage for a quantity of 28 pills.

When I tried to fill them both at the pharmacy, not only did the pharmacist act like a b!tch, but my insurance company would only fill one of them. The pharmacist looked at me like I forged the script, and asked for an explanation. Thats when another pharmacist piped up in my defense, saying the nurse faxed over a note of explanation as to why I was getting two identical scripts within 24 hours.

They filled it, BUT pharmacists try to play ethics police and doctor at the same time. Its BS.

Endocet is oxycodone and acetamenophin, and Roxicet is only oxycodone.

I am not understanding why you did not fill the script for the endocet? This is the same prescription, only one has tylenol and one doesnt. Do you understand this..?

Did you have two scripts one for endos and one for roxis filled? Cuz the only difference in the two meds is one has apap and one does not ....I can figure why they would care about that?

The PA is not certified I am wondering how he/or she is writing scripts of any kind then ?I would definitely contact a layer if he is writing scripts and he/she is not certified .

It's not the RA more than the cold turkey off the meds that are of concern I think... I think it needs to be addressed somewhere....that wasn't right what they did to you or how they have left you feeling.... you weren't doing anything wrong.

My reg OB is out of town by45 min, The idea was i'd go to this medicaid clinic for the physical checks and the original dr would consult. The medicaid office is where the problem arose. I am at this point hesitant to go to any dr. RA won't kill you and millions of women have dropped babies in a field.

Was this your obgyn that pulled you off pain meds CT without tapering you off. If it was I would definitely go talk to a lawyer tell him/her what happened .I  would find a new doctor as well its important especially in the last two months that you are getting obgyn care for  the sake of both you and your unborn baby.

Can you change Dr's? i don't want to give you too much advice but after you find someone with legal expertise get out of that situation. You don't need that and I have a hard time trying to figure out why on earth people become Dr's if they have no patience and understanding let alone basic people skills.

Even if you don't get a lawyer I hope that in a few days you can sit down and write her a letter. Best of luck.

I am wondering if they are embarrassed due to their error? So it's your OB that is rx'ng them to you? I wouldn't go to your next visit alone....you may even find a new one... if you can b/c I know it can be hard this late in the pregnancy...

Good Luck...please keep us posted!

I just got off the phone with my psychologist and she is encouraging me to file a report with the NC board of medicine. She said that is unprofessional and any doctor who thinks a patient is addicted should have a heart to heart with them and try to help. She is a PA and actually worked for my family practice at one time and managed my pain herself. She said I am in no way an addict. She herself tried to get me to move to oxycontin and had me refuse for over a year. That made me feel a little better. The big problem now is that even thinking about my next visit i start having what feels like a panic attack. So I have to wonder if this means for the next 2 mos IF I can even go to my obstetrician.

wow. You should talk to a lewyer. That kind of stress is really bad for your baby. I say get to the ER and then talk to a lawyer. No matter what your situation you have been working with your Dr and they have no right to humiliate you and put you and your family at risk.

Those are incredible accusations and really offensive. I am so sorry. Please don't let these people get away with this. I wish you luck.

WOW....that is ridiculous! You try and do the right thing and look what happens? I am so sorry and I really wish I knew what to tell you to do....but I don't! I won't hit or curst you either.... doesn't he realize you are prego...and that's not good?

I am so sorry....Hopefully someone else with more knowledge/info will come along.

Also there is an ob/gyn RN on the forum you may pm her and ask for her opinion / advice her name is 1234betterlife   maybe she can give you more insight!
Please keep us updated... good luck
