Hi Sandy :)
Good to see ya.
Took MH and me forever and a day to get a new PW...glad you jumped in and gave such good advice. It's so good to be reminded that YES..she did it right...long easy taper...
Hope you are well
Also, I just popped in as donewitis did, and I am not usually on the forum any longer, but I saw your post and felt it really needed a response.
Hi there,
It sounds like you've completed a good, long taper from the valium. This is always beneficial when the benzodiazapines completely leave your system - it makes for a much less bumpy ride. I tapered off of klonopin, which also has a fairly long half life. Valium has a half life of between 40 and 100 hours and is usually out of your system by 200 hours, depending on how quickly you metabolize it, which I'm sure you already know.
To answer your question, and this is based on my experience with klonopin, I started feeling withdrawals once I was past the half life, which was about 3 1/2 days. The next week was not comfortable, but not unbearable either - I felt jittery, had difficulty focusing, lost a fair amount of sleep, and did not have much of an appetite. If you're at day 6, you're doing great if you're only having minimal withdrawals. It may get worse for a few days to a week, and then after that, the anxiety should start to smooth out.
My best advice to you is not to overthink it; just take it as it comes and don't worry about what has yet to be. It will be overwith before you know it. At day 6, you may already be done with it. Everyone is different.
Congrats on your taper and I wish you the best of luck.
Well wishes,
Sandy ♦
Congratulations getting off the benzos... I know nothing very little phenobarbitol..you seem, you are doing really well. I also went the Ashton route...and little by little my brain is healing... You are so young...your recovery will be that much faster...this experience, we have to learn patience. I have not been on here in ages..I couldnt log on..lost pw..etc...but I've been just poppin in every now and then..and I could see you needed reassurance that you you can get and will get through this..one day at a time..be gentle with yourself.
God Bless You
i was on valium for a total of 5 months gradually
November 2009-Nov 16 2011
Gradual use of Xanax 4mg and Ativan sometimes
Nov 16th tapered ashton manual
2/26 off the Xanax and ativan
tapered 5 mgs Valium from 50 MG every 2 weeks after till i got to 30 mg valium
4/21 *Benzo Free* on high amounts of Phenobarbital (90 MG) to make sure I dont have seziures, tapering down 15 mgs every 3 days.
4/25 75 MG Pheno till 4/29
Ive been feeling quite well lately, i know the half life of the valium isnt out of your system until about 200 hours, but i feel pretty good, symptoms are quite manageable. Anyone else been on valium that can be here for support or insight? What can I expect the next few days? BTW, I am a 21 yr old female average height and weight (BMI 24)
Whats the question? Maybe we can help?
thanks it has been slow around here lol.
