Prescription fraud

I'm really scared of what will happen to me.. I forged scripts for narcotics without any problem until yesterday when my regular pharmacy had a floating pharmacist. She told me that she knew my prescription was a forgery and that she'd already called my dr to confirm and that the police had been notified. I'm not sure if this is true or if she was trying to scare me because my dr office was closed yesterday and my dr wasn't the one on call. How long until the police show up to my house?

Welcome to the forum!  So glad you posted and are sharing with us~

After reading your latest comment...a couple of thoughts came to mind.   First...you seeing this as a blessing is HUGE!!  And not running from it too.
Many forum members have found themselves in a scary state due to illegally handling their pain med scripts.  Many have that "behind them now" and are clean.  You can too!

It's fabulous that you are already seeing a substance abuse counselor.  If you handle this as it sounds like you will.....being totally honest with your doctor, talking to your counselor about it and then dealing with each legal step as you need to....it will change your life forever...for the better.... and give you a feeling of peace and freedom.

Your understanding of Tramadol.....from what you've said above is incorrect.  You seem to be misinformed (and perhaps your doctor is too).  Tramadol IS an addictive medication.  It is an "opioid analgesic"....technically a narcotic because it binds at opiate receptors in the brain.  And, because it is totally synthetic...and also has an antidepressant component in it.....it is VERY hard to get off of for many.

We have a whole journal "forum" here on MedHelp of tramadol warriors that have fought the good fight and are now clean and free of their tramadol addiction.  If you are interested, let me know and I'll find the link for you.
As for your cysts and endometriosis....VERY painful, I know....and it sounds like it's time to talk to your dr. about other solutions for helping you instead of the "bandaid" approach of narcotic/addictive pain meds.

Please hang around....you're in great company here~

Congratualtions on wanting to be clean!!  We all deserve a better life than chasing pills.
After reading your last post about how you forged the scripts, my first reaction was why didn't I think of that?  Typical addict thinking.  So grateful that my next reaction was thank God I didn't think of that!
I haven't posted on your thread until now because I wasn't aware of the legality issues, but want to wish you the best.  Sending blessings...

Yes I know I have an addiction problem I'm definitely not denying that. My ob/gyn printed my prescription straight off the computer so I just made copies and changed the dates. And yes I've only forged prescriptions for tramadol since august. The narcotic prescriptions were from May to August. I'm currently seeing a Christian counsellor that specializes in substance abuse and other things that got me to this place. No matter what happens, this was most certainly a blessing. I'm scared of what may happen but I'm not going to run from it. My mistake, my responsibility to make it right.  I appreciate everyone's advice and words of encouragement. I will keep you posted as the events unfold..

I'm a bit confused. You said that you have been forging scripts for narcotics with no problem, and then said you haven't taken anything narcotic since August? How are you able to do this? Do you work for a doctor, or do you have a prescription pad? Has there been any update since your post? Please let us know. As nursegirl said, now would be the time to get honest, and begin to deal with this upfront. Keep posting, we can help you with support!

How did you forge the scripts?  How many did you forge?

Do you have a history of addiction?

With all due respect, this isn't something someone who isn't an addict would do.  I would ask you if you're being honest with yourself about the situation?  Now would be the time to do that.

I'm sure you are terrified. Unfortunately, there have quite a few situations like this that people have posted about here. I'm hoping others will weigh in with some good advice for you. In the meantime, take some deep breaths, and try to relax. You may want to get in contact with an attorney and ask some questions. Hang in there!

I told her that it was real and when she said it wasn't I just said ok and left. I honestly thought the police would've come to my house last night.. It was for tramadol and lortab 5's. Anything from 10-28 quantity. Yesterday was tramadol. I haven't taken anything narcotic since August and I lost my insurance so can't afford the dr. I know it doesn't make it any better but I'm just so sore all the time. I'm prone to ovarian cysts rupturing and have bad endometriosis.. I'm so terrified.

This is actually a blessing in disguise.  Prescription forgery is a serious thing so i am sure she did call the proper authorities and rightfully so.  We all understand the hold these pills have on you.  You dont have to be a prisoner to them anymore~

Hi Sarah, welcome. What did you say to the pharmacist when she told you that she knew it was a forgery? Did you admit to it? A few more details will help us advise you better. At the very least, your gig is up. Time to be honest with yourself. Please keep us posted, and I wish you the best.

Hello and welcome!

We get questions like this a good deal.

Unfortunately, there is simply no way to predict the outcome.  Each situation varies as far as how it's dealt with.  How many scripts have you forged?  Were they all at that same pharmacy and all under the one doctor's name?  What drug did you forge the script for, and how many pills per script?

My advice to you would be to go to the doctor's office and be 100% honest with him, admit you have a problem and need help, and tell him what you've done.  If you do that and there are legal repercussions, you are more likely to be afforded some leniency.

If you do nothing, and the pharmacist/doctor decides to pursue criminal charges, it's anyone's guess as to how long it will be until the hammer is dropped.  It may be today, it may be a month from now.  Most likely, they will do an investigation and discover the other scripts.  Depending on how many scripts you had forged and for what drug, you could be facing distribution charges.

Hopefully this is a wake up call for you, and you know you really need help.  Can you share with us your history?  How long you've been using, and what/how much?  Have you tried to get help before?

We will be glad to help you work through your addiction.  Please keep us updated.
