Trazodone is a antidepressant medication. It is thought to increase the activity of one of the brain chemicals (serotonin) which may become unbalanced and cause depression. It may also be used for relief of anxiety disorders (eg, sleeplessness, tension) and chronic pain.
Trazodone is used to treat depression.
Trazodone may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Important information about trazodone
Before taking trazodone, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have bipolar disorder (manic depression), schizophrenia or other psychiatric illness, a history of drug abuse or suicidal thoughts, or if you have recently had a heart attack.
You may have thoughts about suicide when you first start taking an antidepressant, especially if you are younger than 24 years old. Your doctor will need to check you at regular visits for at least the first 12 weeks of treatment.
Trazodone works best if you take it after a meal or a snack. Call your doctor at once if you have any new or worsening symptoms such as: mood or behavior changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel impulsive, irritable, agitated, hostile, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed, or have thoughts about suicide or hurting yourself.
Trazodone can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking trazodone. Alcohol can increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by trazodone. Stop taking trazodone and call your doctor at once if you have a penis erection that is painful or lasts 4 hours or longer. This is a medical emergency and could lead to a serious condition that must be corrected with surgery.

you are not takeing any 5hpt or ltyrosine with this are you ?
Do you have any history of digestive problems still have your gallbladder ? Your serotonin levels might be low from the tram use. Have you been taking the Trazadone the whole time .
I never thought about the trazadone playing a factor in all this. I will look into that.
Avisg - I was taking mainly vicodin (whatever ones I could get 5's or 10's...altohugh I would cit the 10's in half to make them last longer) and I would take up to 20 per day. I mixed in trmadol if I could not get vicodin and I mixed in percocet when I got that. I did this on and off (mainly on) for about 3 years. I did detox 3 times with no help in those 3 years staying off only about one month two of those times and staying off 4 months once.
Maybe it is mental and the mental is creating physical problems. Today I am feeling ok just super tired but no headache or stomach issues. Maybe my PAWS manifest with phyical symptoms...I am one of those people who is very emotional and the emotions effet everything....Agh.
Hi Jersey,
I hardly ever post b/c I am going through my own hell right now but after reading some of your posts I would encourage you to look into the trazodone. Google www.askapatient.com and see what some of the people have experienced taking this drug. Some of the side effects are similar to what you are experiencing. Headaches, the creepies, muscle pain, etc. Your brain will heal without drugs. Believe me, I know b/c I have suffered from depression. I found out when I was off all drugs (even for sleep) I could finally say there was light. Though it took time. We didnt get this way overnight and there are no quick fixes.
Most of the people on the board with clean time seem to be doing well.
Also, I read you took some valium initially for withdrawals and that could still be a factor. What i mean is that it takes time for all drugs to get out of our systems.
my2cents,
I used to work with psychologists and psychiatrists.. they will tell you that alot of times the physical is the result of the mental... I too have bad days sometimes but I think it is because of the mental... and in cases like ours the mental can be a direct cause of the physical... so maybe since your checkup turned out ok, maybe it's the mental aspect of it all.. just a thought
We have had member talk about wd sysmtoms a few weeks after getting clean, but I remeber anyone saying they had them come and go on and off for weeks at a time .Tell me again what you were taking .What are u taking write now supplement and scripts.
Seemed like mine lasted forever. Head was always pounding, vision was blurry, legs always bothering me, lower GI issues beyond reason. So yes they do sometimes last longer for some of us lucky ones. I will tell you though that they will get better if you will just keep your nose pointed in the right direction and regardless of the time, dont ever give in to the pressure. Time is on your side. You are doing so good at 36 days. Keep up the good work. Things will get better. guv
